Gentleman Donald and KristenWe had to get up a bit earlier today. Breakfast reservation at 8:10am. So up and at em and down to Shutters for breakfast. It STILL wasn’t busy, but you would have thought they were swamped with the hub bub going on. No clue why they were so spazzy but eventually we got checked in and seated. There had to be 8 tables near us that had no one there. And their looked to be plenty of staff, so no clue on what the problem was.

A masterpiece in the making...The serve a plated breakfast for this. Eggs, bacon, sausage, potatoes, mickey waffle and rolls/biscuits. All was very good and the characters were Goofy and Donald. They really spent a good amount of time at the tables which was nice, and Donald’s handler even took a family shot of us – her idea! Much better than the often times rushed character meals in WDW itself.

Family shot with DonaldAfter we finished it was back to the room to get ready for the beach again. Today we are only getting the boogie board and will make due with towels on the beach to sit on. ;-) Nice surf today, and again no sign of the ‘finned friends’ again. Thank goodness! Still, everyone watches all the time so that helps you feel a bit better.

We saw goofy get into lots of trouble!I took a sun break after a bit and headed back to the room for a while. More trip report work and stopped at the front desk to see if it would be possible to tour a Beach Cottage. No such luck – they are all filled right now. Bummer! When I got back to the room to grab my camera the phone light was flashing. Seems Brinn’s coloring entry at breakfast had been picked as today’s winner! She won a free round of miniature golf for a party of four. Perfect! She will be very excited!

Maddy tells Brinn she won the coloring contestI walked around and took pictures of the resort. Actually, quite a bit has changed since our last visit. The hurricane that came through a couple years ago caused quite a bit of damage that had to be repaired. The walkway to the beach is completely rebuilt and the campfire area has been moved to the end of the resort just past Vacation Home building 12. They have done a great job with everything and it looks better than ever!

Playing miniature golfAt the end of my walking/picture taking self guided tour I headed down onto the beach to find the girls. They were still swimming in the ocean so I got a few pictures of them as well. Then I took a few things back to the room, met the girls at the pool area for a couple more pictures and then our round of golf! Brinn was very excited to find out she had won and we headed to the restaurant to get the certificate for her prize. They had her picture hanging from the podium and she was all smiles.

Playing miniature golfWe headed out to the pool area and picked up clubs and balls to play our game. It was fun and the girls were pretty funny to watch. We haven’t gone miniature golfing with them before and it really showed. Maddy still didn’t have holding the club correctly even at the 9th hole! ;-) But it was fun, and we’ll just need to play more often so they can get better.

More Beach and pool time fun pictures

Campfire area where we go later tonight

Brinn's Mickey that won the coloring contest.
When the color choices are limited, you have to be creative!  ;-)

Brinn and I wait for the crowds to thin before roasting our marshmellowsIt was now time to be heading to the room to get cleaned up. My brother Derek and his wife Tonya are meeting us at the Vero Outlets for a bit of shopping and dinner. They live about 1.5 hours away, and had a few hours this weekend to come up and see us. The drive there was pretty easy (down US 1 south and then west on Rt 60 just past 95 and it is on your left. Can’t miss it. Lots of good stores and we made a complete circuit in less than a couple hours. Then it was off to the nearby Cracker Barrel for a bit to eat and lots on conversation. It was a very nice visit but way too short.

We came back by following 60 all the way to A1A and coming up the coast to the resort. A very nice drive and pretty quick. I had worried it would be much slower, but we moved right along. Lots of nice properties and things to check out.

Camp fireWe got back just in time for the evening campfire. We arrived for that just before the fire was started. They have it down to a science and Hank and his helper from Wales did a fine job. It was packed tonight, and after several fun campfire sing along songs we all made smores. It was pretty hot next to a campfire in August, but still fun. And the smores were excellent!

We headed back to the room to quickly change for the pool. We wanted a nighttime swim before leaving and tonight is our last chance. The pool closes at 10pm and we closed it down before coming back inside. Kristen was already packing things up and after an hour of cleanup we were ready for bed. Tomorrow it’s back to WDW and checkin at Beach Club Villas. While we will really miss Vero, we can’t wait to get to BCV again! We’ll be headed there early and enjoy the early afternoon at Stormalong Bay. Then its off to MGM for the evening.
