view in the morningI was the only one rising early today. Even with the early bedtime everyone else was zonked out. I headed down to the beach for some sunrise pictures, and enjoyed a nice walk up and down the beach. Lots of photo opportunities including more fins breaking the surface this morning. I wanted to convince myself they were dolphins, but I’m pretty much positive it was more sharks feeding just offshore. :-O

Finny 'friends' swimming close offshore at dawnIt was another beautiful day and the sun was just coming up. I spent some time exploring a bit and then headed back up. Just as I was leaving the beach I got a call on the cell phone. I thought the girls would still be sleeping and I was right! It was Moley, and the site had been down since the previous evening. Seems that the server company was having a REALLY bad day with network issues, Nameserver problems and even a denial of service attack on their status machines. I fired off an email to them, and they eventually got everything back up and running. Thanks for the call Moley – I know you hate calling me about this stuff at home and especially on vacation, but no worries! Just glad everything is back up and running again! :-)

When I got back to the room the girls were still out cold so I had a couple hours to work on the trip reports. I was several days behind so the time came in handy. Soon they were up though and we got ready and headed downstairs for breakfast. No trouble getting into Shutters without a reservation, and again we were seated in the porch area. Breakfast was good and then we headed out to the beach. Today we got a boogie board, a couple chairs and an umbrella. Nice to have a ‘base camp’ for the day but around $40 for everything.

girls at the sign crossingBrinn loved the boogie board and spent most of the day with that. One wipeout and Maddy was MUCH happier with her simple blow up ring for floating in the waves. No sign of our ‘finny friends’ at this time, so we were all glad about that. The beach here is very nice (for us). Not super wide and white powder sand like Florida West Coast beaches, but plenty of room and never really crowded. Beautiful views (with NO highrises in the way) and they have even marked the turtle nests with markers and taped them off to keep people away. Amazing how MANY nests there are in this small area.

High School Musical 2 - Pajama PartyWe floated and sunned the day away. Spent just a bit of time in the pool and at 2 pm it was time for the girls to head off to the Unbirthday Party. I had signed them up at Eb and Flo’s at 9am because the space fills up quickly. So, don’t wait if you want to ensure a spot for your children. They had it set up nicely (sorry, no camera with us at the time) with places at a table for each child. The had a pinata and had candy and cupcakes and played games. The girls really enjoyed it. And mom and dad enjoyed a frozen mudslide on the porch in the Green Cabin Room overlooking the ocean. VERY NICE. :-)

High School Musical 2 - Pajama PartyAfter this it was back to the beach! Have to get the most out of our Beach rentals today! ;-) We enjoyed the beach until early evening and then headed down to Bleachers (by the pool) for a quick dinner. We finished up just in time to get the girls ready and off to their Pajama Party. That gave Kristen and I enough time to relax in the Green Cabin Room once more and have a nice dessert for two. This thing could give the Kitchen Sink from Beaches and Cream a run for its money. HUGE bowl filled with ice cream several toppings, cookies, fudge brownies, banannas, and more! Very good, but way too much for two people! We did OK on it though!

We then went for a walk since the girls were busy a couple hours this time. The party was not a baby sitting service though. Kids could come and go as the pleased, but we told ours to stay there and call us if they wanted to leave early. We checked on them through the windows a couple times and they were enjoying the movie. They got drinks and popcorn and it looked like a fun time.

Making friends at the High School Musical 2 - Pajama PartySo Kristen and I headed into the arcade to play a few games. Sat by the pool and eventually the movie was over. It was getting late and time for bed. We headed to the room and after just a bit more TV we crashed for the night. Tomorrow is a character breakfast in the am, followed by more beach time. Very laid back and relaxing way to spend a long weekend!
