When they came up we
had time for an hour snooze before we had to get ready for Downtown
Disney. When we got up and dressed we called down for
the car and then picked it up at Valet and headed for
Rainforest Cafe. Being Saturday, Downtown Disney was a zoo.
Parking lot 1 was SUPPOSEDLY full, and they completely block it off
so you can't even get in there.
Stupid since we could SEE
where many cars had left and spaces were available throughout.
The cones they set up to direct traffic actually made it much worse
in my opinion and definitely annoyed me at least! ;-)
We finally worked our way around to lot 2 in front of Pleasure
Island and found a spot. Just a bit past McDonalds so
not all that bad.
We waded through the
crowd and finally made our way to Rainforest Cafe. I had not
made reservations ahead because I was unsure when we would be
getting here. Our friends were spending the day at SeaWorld
and so we choose 5pm as a meet time. They were running late in
heavy traffic so I jumped in the LONG checkin line hoping the wait
would not be too bad. With visions of two hours I was pleased
to hear that a party of eight could be seated in 15 or 20 minutes.
Wooo Hooo! Yay for huge restaurants! ;-)
We shopped in the
store for a bit and also got the yearly pictures with Brinn and
Maddy with the menu sign in front of the restaurant.
This is it. I don't think I'll be able to pick up the girls
again after this! Old daddies back won't take it! :-D
Soon they called our name and we headed to the Elephant room.
Mallory and Jordyn were a bit apprehensive of the thunder storms and
moving animals, but soon got used to it and liked it.
Service was a bit slow, but not terrible and we all enjoyed a good
meal that everyone enjoyed. I remembered to use my Annual Pass
for a 10% discount which was nice, and for a party of 8 they
automatically include an 18% tip.
After dinner we took
some picture so the girls in their matching dresses and then split
up. We had already shopped in Downtown Disney and Kristen was
itching for some outlets! :-) Our friends are staying at
the Hilton Vacation Homes off Vineland just a few miles off
property. So, we head to the outlets right next to their
location to hit the Disney Character Outlet and just a couple others
we have time for. The Disney outlet ended up having several
items we picked up including a nice hooded sweatshirt for me, and
some shirts for the girls. They also found some half price
CD's and gifts for friends and family back home.
We had somehow
forgotten to pack our duffle bag when we left home, so we found a
really good (and 40% off one!) at one of the stores. Its
perfect since it folds down to quite small for packing, but opens to
32 inches in length when used. Will hold a lot of clothes for
the trip home while a suitcase can carry the souvenirs. And it
will be great for future trips if I can only remember to INCLUDE it
what we bring along!
After that we gave
Jeff and Corinne a call to see if they were back from DownTown
Disney yet. They were so we headed over to their Villa to see
them and check out the digs! Jeff gave me directions and its
really easy from the outlets. He even met us outside and after
we parked the car he gave us a tour of the quiet pool area and along
the large and beautiful lake to their building. The buildings
had (I think!) 7 floors of units and around 7 buildings located
around a sizable lake.
We headed up to
their unit on the 4th floor and they even have a doorbell which is a
nice touch! Inside they are VERY nice and 'elegant' was the
description we all agreed on. Beautiful kitchen area and a
nice large dining and Living area. Off to the right was a
split bathroom with walkin shower, double sink vanity and toilet.
Leading into the master bedroom was the large Jacuzzi tub and then
the Master bedroom. Very nice!! There was a door to the
balcony from both the living room and master bedroom and the balcony
was huge with a nice table and four chairs. Overhead light
with fan and the entire thing was screened in. You looked over
the lake from here and the view was very nice!
Our friends are MUCH
neater than we are. I could hardly tell they were actually
staying in the unit! ;-) So I was able to snap pictures
to share with everyone in case they ever planned to stay here
sometime. Definitely looked like someplace I would love to
stay! :-) After the tour and a bit of chatting we knew
we had to go. Tomorrow is Animal Kingdom together and the
girls need to sleep. We drove back to the Beach Club and had
about a 20 minute delay where Vineland meets 535. WAY backed
up on a Saturday night and they REALLY REALLY need to put in a light
here for right turning traffic. It was TERRIBLE trying to get
through there with cross traffic pulling in front of you from a
plaza and then people using a yield sign to get out onto 535.
Eventually we got through but it took forever!
We had to pack up
for our move to a one bedroom tomorrow. NOT as painful this
time since we just lived out of a suitcase for a couple days.
Soon it was off to bed with a wake up call to get us going for
another day at the Animal Kingdom. Good Night! |
