Today
we are going to Islands of Adventure. The girls were a bit tired, so
I got ready and headed over to hit a couple of the coasters before
they arrived. Today, the Hulk was DOWN at park opening. I think
there is a conspiracy to keep me off this ride this year! So across
the park to do Dueling Dragons instead. NO line at all and I was
able to do first one side and then the other. GREAT ride – love
these two coasters.
Returned
to the locker to gather my stuff and check the cell phone. Yup.
Message from Kristen – I tried to call her but no answer. I headed
to Seuss Landing thinking the girls would start there and was
wondering around in a nice cool store when the phone rang. There was
loud music right outside so I could NOT hear well. Turned out to be
Moley from the site with a question and well wishes for our trip! I
was talking to her like it was Kristen! :-) Oops. Sorry Moley! Good
to hear from you!
While
I was on the phone with Moley I got beeped with call waiting. THIS
was Kristen. Quick goodbye to Moley and I tried to connect to
Kristen. Screwed it up and called her back. They will be right here
in Seuss Land, right? WRONG! Across the park at Spiderman! LOL!
Ooops.
I
had them come over to me anyway. There is a new ride that just
opened in June that takes you around Seuss Land in a little
coaster-like car overhead. The High in the Sky Seuss Trolley Train
Ride. This is the eventual attraction they put in place after the
original plan proved unworkable. It seemed to load and run pretty
slow so I figured doing it before the park got busy would be a good
idea with or without Front of the Line passes! The girls came along
after a bit and we walked back to the new ride. We were quickly at
the front of the line using our hotel room keys, but they stopped it
JUST then to add a new car. It took 20 minutes to add that new car!
MAN was that thing slow! Hope they improve on it over time.
The
ride was run (think Tomorrowland Transit Authority-like). Pretty
slow moving, but very wide open as you ride around. Kristen was a
bit freaked out over the water. :-) It was fun seeing Seuss Landing
from this angle, but they said no picture taking while on the ride.
Not sure why… It’s pretty darn calm! But I was good and didn’t take
any photos… this time! ;-)
After
that we hit One Fish, Two Fish and the Cat in the Hat. Both were
almost no waits with or without Front of the line. Early morning in
these parks is VERY empty. A great time to go if you don’t have
express passes. Afternoons on the other hand get mighty busy, so be
prepared. We did some Seuss shopping and Kristen and the girls got
some new shirts. We had already been calling Brinn - Thing 1 and
Maddy - Thing 2, so those shirts were a MUST! ;-)
After
we finished with Seuss Landing it was off to The Lost Continent. The
girls LOVE the Flying Unicorn coaster and did it several times. Then
it was off to lunch in the Enchanted Oak. I love the ribs and
chicken here. And the 20% off with a Preferred AP comes in handy!
:-)
As we left you could
see Dueling Dragons in the distance. Brinn was actually considering
riding it. While it flips and turns you all over the place, there
are NO huge hills with big drops (her worst fear). She watched it
run a few times, and then (VERY hesitantly) decided to ride! WOW! I
had NOT expected THAT! ;-) |
