Let the girls sleep in a
bit while I posted a couple more Trip Report days. These will most
likely be the only ones I get online for a while. Our Universal days
are always very busy with little extra time for working on the Trip
Report. I'll try to squeeze in a bit more before heading home on
Monday!
After everyone was up we finished packing and had Bell Services take
our bags down stairs. We'll load them into the car later after
breakfast. We walk down to the Cape May Café and are quickly seated
for breakfast after just a few minute wait. Dale stops by almost
immediately, and then we head up to the buffet WONDERFUL selections
this morning and everything is very good. Kristen is torn between
whether this buffet is possibly better than 1900 Park Fare. I think
I like this one a bit better myself!
We fill up one last time on the Dining plan and saw Minnie, Chip and
Goofy over the course of our meal. All were fun and it was a great
last meal at Disney After we finished up and headed out I went to
get the luggage loaded into the car while Kristen hit the
marketplace one last time. We still had four snack credits, and you
could use them in the stores for items such as boxes of donuts,
cookies - even chips. All were clearly marked in the marketplace
with the dining plan snack symbol which was very convenient.
(Wilderness Lodge Mercantile did not have these markers yet…) These
goodies will be great for breakfast/snacks while we are at Portofino
Bay.
We all jump in the loaded car and head out saying our goodbyes to
WDW. What a wonderful time we have had and I think Maddy is the
saddest. She really wasn't ready to go yet, and wanted to stay…
Forever! :-D
Traffic was a bit heavy on the way up I-4. Took us a while to get
through, but we made it and were soon at Portofino Bay and checking
in.
Rant warning - skip if you don't want to
read it!
Parking here is $12 a day and $18 to Valet (!!!!!!) Yowch. I
really dislike being gouged like this on top of the regular hotel
prices which are by no means cheap. If DISNEY charges $7 to Valet
you KNOW $18 is totally outrageous! This was a reoccurring theme
throughout our Universal stay. :-( $3.00 for a bottle of water at
the resort café (while Disney consistently charges $2.00 for a
larger bottle both at the parks and resorts), Kids meals don't
include drinks, and they only have the adult sizes which was too
much for the girls anyway. Things like that. Annoying and left a bad
taste in my mouth.
And don't even get me started on the Express Passes. They have
removed all the machines now and ONLY hotel guests and those that
pay extra (a LOT extra) can use the Express lines. I have vowed to
never visit this park without staying at a Universal Hotel because
of how they sell the Express passes. Lines were long all weekend for
those without the passes and while its great having Front of the
line access, I could not help but feel bad for those staying
elsewhere or unwilling or unable to spend close to $100 a day for
park tickets and Express passes per person!
End of rant…
