Hair wrap for MaddyToday plans have changed. We were originally going to hit SeaWorld today, but have moved that to next weekend. We wanted a Wilderness Lodge pool day and a day to sleep in as well. The girls did just that and didn’t get up until around 9:30.

All Done!

We grabbed a nice breakfast at the Roaring Fork and then headed out to the pool. It is another beautiful Florida day and it’s not too crowded yet. As we returned to the pool after breakfast we found the woman doing hair wraps was not busy so decided it was a good time for the girls to do this. The price has gone up to $2 per inch from $1.50 last year. Quite a jump, but something the girls really enjoy and it lasts quite a while.

Brinn gets a hair wrapI made it long enough for Madison to get her wrap done and then had to get in the pool. It is another hot one, and I wanted to cool off. We still could watch Brinn from the comfort of the pool. :-)

Soon the whole family was enjoying the pool and slide. It’s still not crowded and it was easy to get a good chair and no lines on the slide today. The pool water is quite warm, and not as refreshing as I would prefer, but jumping in the hot Jacuzzi for a few minutes and then back in the pool makes the water seem cooler! ;-)

All done!We swam for a couple hours and then returned to the room to get ready and head to Downtown Disney for a bit of shopping. The girls already had their eyes on some Cheetah Girl dolls and Brinn wanted to add to her collection of Minnie Mouse Plush with the Year of a Million Dreams one she had seen at the Contemporary the night before. Valet had the car pulled around when we arrived downstairs and we were off!

The parking lot was not too full, so the crowds weren’t bad today. We headed straight for lunch and had decided Dad gets to pick today! I have wanted to try Fulton’s Crab House for YEARS, and today I finally got my way. ;-) A nice 30% discount on lunch for DVC members didn’t hurt my cause either! We headed into a pretty empty restaurant and were quickly seated. The place had a bit of a smell in the lobby near the kitchen that the girls were less than thrilled with, but it was fine in the dining room. :-)

Brinn on the WL pool slideI decided on the grilled swordfish special that was excellent. The girls (none of them!) do seafood so that has been my problem in getting them here. But the kids menu had some tasty chicken tenders and Kristen enjoyed a burger. We had a nice table near a window with a view of the waterway leading to/from the resorts. The shuttle boats were running frequently back and forth from the resorts nearby. And we saw several people in the Water mouse boats having a good time.

Maddy on the WL pool slideAfter we finished lunch we hit the World of Disney store first. Back and forth from room to room chocked full of Disney souvenirs and products. LOTS of the same stuff from previous trips, but a few new items. The Hannah Montana items were at least around this year. Some shirts and even a costume that was WAY overpriced. Maddy found her target Cheetah girl doll and glommed on to that for the duration of the time there. Brinn’s doll was not there and even a helpful CM was not able to find one in the back. She also struck out on the Minnie! They had TONS of all the fab 5 except Minnie was sold out. She must be really popular! Brinn is striking out a bit on the shopping, but found several other items she really liked. We were here quite some time, but soon moved on and hit a few other stores finishing up at the Christmas store. Got a couple ornaments for ourselves and as gifts and it was time to get back to the resort.

Dressed up for dinnerTonight we have a late dinner at the Contemporary Steakhouse. Another place I’ve always wanted to try, and with the Dining Plan a good choice. Once we were ready, we headed down to catch the boat to the Contemporary. Nice timing as it was just coming in as we walked out on the dock. After a quick trip to Fort Wilderness we were there.

Quick aside - I can NOT figure out the boats though. Sometimes the boat goes directly to the Contemporary – other times it goes to Fort Wilderness and then the Contemporary. No idea why they switch it around so much, and a bit confusing depending on which resort is your destination. Any way, we were there without too much delay.

Boat over to the ContemporaryThere was enough time for a bit of shopping and Brinn RAN back to the Contemporary store to look for that Minnie doll. We could only find the Cinderella version though. Rats... Then I saw a foot sticking out on another shelf, pulled it out and there was the last and hiding Minnie in her Year of a Million Dreams finery. :-) Brinn grabbed it and ran for the checkout desk! LOL Very happy. She had also found the doll she wanted in the Toy Store at Downtown Disney, but her cheap nature was bummed she couldn’t get the 10% discount like she could of at World of Disney. ;-)

Hook at the Contemporary outsideSo, off to dinner. We had to wait about 15 minutes or so, and then were seated. Kristen and I both had the tenderloin which was very good and Brinn had a steak as well from the kids menu. Maddy went with the chicken tenders as she was not very hungry tonight. We did one little splurge tonight. They have the glow drinks here with the light up ice cubes. To get these added to the kids drinks it was around $5 a piece. I asked the waitress to do this for them on the side, and they were quite excited to get them. Kristen and I found out that most of the listed non-alcoholic frozen drinks were included on the meal plan as a drink choice. (all under $5 in price) We each tried one of those. For our appetiser I had the pan seared sea scallops –( YUM!) and Kristen the Onion soup (like French Onion). For dessert I enjoyed the cheesecake and Kristen the chocolate cake. The kids each had a make your own sundae bowl of ice cream. All was very good!

and Smee along with HookA very nice dinner and then it was time to head back to the room. While walking out toward the docks we ran into Hook and Smee (and their entourage) heading inside. No clue what they were there for, but they were fun to see none the less! The boat was already there and on the way back we even saw a good portion of the Electric Water Parade as well.

This was a nice, calm and relaxing day. Tomorrow its back to another water park – Typhoon Lagoon this time. Have to love those nice cool water oriented days during these extra hot Florida days!
