Saturday SunriseAfter being up past 10pm last night, the girls needed some extra sleep this morning.  I enjoyed another Vero sunrise and then read and relaxed while everyone slept.  It was a wonderfully peaceful and quiet morning.  After everyone was up, we considered going out for breakfast, but decided to eat in the room again since we are hitting he Sunday Breakfast Buffet tomorrow.

Mickey Shaped poolBy a bit after 10 we were out at the pool.   Maddy hit the slide, but Brinn was more interested in her ‘swim’ time.  She is turning into quite a little fish, and considers the time in the slide line ‘wasted’ pool time! :-)  After a while I grabbed the camera and camcorder and headed around the area to get some more footage.  Pool and resortThe pool slide tower is a great place to take pictures of the pool area and beyond.  Gives a nice perspective.  You can easily just walk back down with your camera.

Brinn jumping in the poolI got the girls to show off a bit for the camera, and to ride the slide again.  Then we headed down to the beach for some more ocean time.  The girls were getting used to the bigger waves, and getting a bit braver.  We even got them to go out past where the waves break so they could enjoy just swimming around and bouncing over the incoming waves.  Big jump by MaddyThey weren’t too thrilled with the taste of salt water though!  :-P

We all had fun building sand castles (OK, be piled up sand and dug motes around the piles, but it was still fun!)  and watched the waves wash them away. heading down the slide I was getting to my sun limit and was ready to head in for some lunch.  The girls all wanted to stay longer, as did Kristen, so I headed in and just relaxed in the room until they returned.  It is wonderful just sitting in a chair looking out the windows while reading or going out and sitting on the deck.  Slippin and a SliddenQuite a departure from park hopping at Walt Disney World and a very nice break in the middle of our vacation!  This could be addicting!  :-)

Beach TimeAfter the girls returned and lunched – it was time for a nap.  They conked out pretty quickly and Kristen took this chance to enjoy a good relaxing soak in the Jacuzzi tub.  Cheese! The naps were fairly short today and we wanted to go out for dinner.  We headed down A1A toward Vero and drove about 30 minutes just to see what was around.  There are amazingly few restaurants, right on A1A, but we ended up at Charley’s Grille which had a good salad bar and very tasty Prime Rib early bird special.  The kids fair was a bit over cooked, but we made do.  The waitstaff was very friendly and we had a good time.   They have a great list of restaurants and their menu’s right next to the check area at Vero Beach Resort, but we decided to explore and just pick a place this way.  Next time we would pick a restaurant by menu, and then ask for directions.

We made it back JUST in time to play a round of miniature golf.  They typically stop handing out golf clubs/balls at 6:30p, but they let us slide through at around 6:40p (Eb and Flo’s closes at 7pm).  We played our first ever family round of miniature golf, and it was fun.  The girls will need a lot more practice though! :-)  Mom and Dad’s skill could use some honing too!  It was still fun.  Its a simple course, but a fun diversion.

We then ran back to the room for swimsuits.  This may be our last swim.  Since we are doing the camp fire tonight, we figure the girls will be too tired to get up early enough to swim tomorrow.  We have to get everything packed and in the car and be to breakfast by 10am.  We’ll see how it goes.  We enjoyed about an hour in the pool before heading over to the campfire after applying our bug spray.  The nasty critters come out in force at night.  There was a thunderstorm off to the north that was threatening to make it a washout.  The CM’s showed up loaded with supplies – All the makings for SMORES!  Yum!  But we had to earn our smores by singing along with all the campfire songs.  They got a nice roaring fire going, and then we sang several songs.  The threat of the storm cut the songs at least one short, but no one seemed to mind – it was time to make smores!  They passed out roasting sticks and 2 marshmallows each.  We got them nice and brown over the fire and then lined up to have the CM’s help finish them off with gram crackers and some great Hershey’s chocolate.  They really were very good!

The Big Tub! It was just starting to rain, so we ate them on the way back to the room.  Plopped the girls in the Jacuzzi tub for a good scrubbing and found that a bit of shampoo makes a LOT of bubbles when those jets come on!  :-)  They had a great time.  Clean and tired it was off to bed for them.  Kristen and I got everything as packed up as possible and then settled in to read and finish up some postcards.  After a nice breakfast in the morning it’s off to the Beach Club Villas tomorrow!
