Pool FunToday we leave Villas at the Wilderness Lodge and head on off to the Nickelodeon Hotel.  So we slept in quite late and then finished up our packing and headed down to the Roaring Fork to use up the rest of our Meal plan credits.  We ended up with a few extra snacks that we used for water and some other treats for later.  Breakfast at Roaring Fork has several good choices including a breakfast plate with scrambled eggs, bacon or sausage, hashbrowns and a biscuit.  They also had breakfast sandwiches, pancakes, etc.

After that we hit the store one last time and bought a few last minute items.  I think I need to buy a new suitcase for the trip home… That or stop at a shipping place before we fly out on the 31st!  Back to the room to wait for Bell Services to come get the bags.  We had packed everything we needed for the weekend in just one large suitcase, and the other four bags are going straight to Beach Club Villas to wait for us there.  I love this option, and it makes a 'weekend getaway' much easier to deal with!  :-)

Pool FunThe Bellman was very helpful and even gave me directions to Nick Hotel!  ;-)  Found it pretty easily (yea!) and pulled in to the check in area.    The line was not too long, but (as I expected seeing as it was around noon) the room was not yet ready.  No problem.  We had our swim bag packed and ready to go!  They nicely stored all our bags in Bell Services, and they even placed our cold items in refrigeration for us (we only had a small bag of 'must keep cold' items)  Of course, it was all in a Disney World bag!  :-D

They do NOT give you the room key first, but you do get wristbands that you need to wear for the length of your stay.  These mark you as a guest, and make sure they are on good and tight.  If you break one - no problem - take the pieces to the front desk for a replacement.  If you
Slime time!LOOSE one, then there is a $25 replacement fee!  :-O  Yikes!  They are a small annoyance (since they don't come off) but we all got used to them.  We headed off to the Mall area to see about signing up for the nighttime shows.  The Friday shows were all booked by 12:30 on Friday.  But we were able to book the Saturday show - we got 6:30pm.

We changed in a bathroom in the mall and headed out to the pool.  We were warned that the weekends are very busy and THAT is a understatement.  It was packed I thought for sure that finding a chair would be impossible.   There are two complexes, and we went to the one closest to the check in building.  We'll check out the other area tomorrow.   Upon entering the pool area it really wasn't as bad as we had thought.  Don't get me wrong - there were a LOT of people everywhere, but there were chairs to be had, and while the slides and water features were busy, there are so many that the kids didn't have to wait in any outrageously long lines.  The deep end of the pool is much less crowded, and since we all are good swimmers we spent our pool time there.   The water was nice and cool ( I can't stand it when the pool water is too warm) and it was refreshing and fun.

Slime time! There are activities going on throughout the day, and they do some fun Nick type games where the kids are chosen from the pool and can participate in the games to get the chance to sit on the Slimeilator!  Fun!  Brinn took off for the slides during the games.  NO desire to be slimed for her!  ;-)  Maddy tried to be picked, but only half heartedly.  She isn't big on being in front of everyone either.  But we had fun watching.  They played various games…  Fill a bucket with sponges in your pants.  Squeeze a lemon into a cup attached to your head and Slide through a piece of material quickly as a team.  The winners of each game sat on the slimeilator and after all was done they were all slimed together!  Fun!  (for them!)  :-D

Pool FunI took a tour around this area and snapped a jillion pictures.  I'll put together a slideshow for the site after we get home and settled a bit.  I'll include a few good shots here in the report as well.   As far as the room goes, they took our cell number and were supposed to call when the room was ready.  4pm is the official check in time, but no call by 3:30.  I decided to call and check and surprise - after being chided that checkin was 4 pm, the room WAS already ready!  Figures!

Back to check in to have the keys cut and wait in line again.  Not thrilled with this process and I'd have to classify the response I got when I asked why they didn't just give you the keys first and encode the room when ready as a bit snippy.  (and I asked nice, really I did!).  Both Disney and Universal hotels give you the key for charging and identification and you can just call for the room number when ready.  NICK doesn't do it that way, and the others do it in a non-standard manor.  OOOOKKKKKKAAAAAYYYYYY, glad I asked!  :-/    Anyway - got the keys, and the refrigerated items.  Had to go back out the the Bell Services desk and they said they would send the bags right up.

Pool FunOff to move the car around to our building - which is building 7 with a pool view.  I had gotten a good deal on a two bedroom suite.  The girls REALLY wanted their own bedroom with the themeing and with the 25% off discount I was willing to get one!  ($187 per night).  Still a lot, but its only two nights and we've already established these kids are spoiled hotel snobs!  :-D    Oh, and at checkin they also asked for a character preference.  Ours love all the Nick shows, so any would be fun.  I guess Sponge Bob is the number one request (by far) and its to the point that its an extra $25 to get a Sponge Bob room!  :-O  Yikes!

Pool FunBrinn said she hoped it was Danny Phantom.  We all enjoy that show, and we open the door and what do you know?  Danny Phantom it is!  :-D  How lucky are we?  I didn't even mention that one at check in!  The room is great.  Clean, great location - pool view.  Lots of pool noise, but we don't mind.  GREAT view, and you can see what is going on so you can run down anytime.  Short walk to the mall area and just very central.  Nice!   Oh, and we are on the fifth floor, so the view is good from up here.

At around 4:30 we heard more announcements by the pool.  Seemed it was time for a 'mass sliming'.  There is a huge bucket at the top of the slide structure and it was filled with green slime water!  They dumped it all on about 150 screaming participants which was really quite amusing to watch!  The girls ran down to get a bit of slime themselves since it took a couple more refills of the bucket to clear it all out!  ;-)  We'll have to make sure we don't miss this tomorrow!

Pool FunAfter that we got ready and went to the Mall for Dinner.  Kids eat free in a couple places and we chose the Nick Café.  Tonight was a seafood buffet for $22.95 (adults) and kids can eat from the buffet free.  Kristen ordered off the menu and the girls and I enjoyed the buffet.  Lots of choices they liked and I enjoyed the prime rib, pasta to order, and crab legs a great deal.    There were also desserts which were good as well.  Good choice and may head back there Saturday night as well.

After that we grabbed the car and headed to the Prime Outlets.  We had great success at he Character Wearhouse store (Disney owned discount merchandise from the parks) and found things such as a couple shirts for me, a Tinkerbelle costume for Brinn (guess the mexican outfit is going back…) which was originaly $85 for $30.  A Daisy Duck pillow ball stuffed animal thing Brinn has been looking for all week for $9 instead of the original $19 and many other things.  That additional suitcase is a MUST!  Maddy found several things she wanted including a brother bear CD, a Pluto stuffed animal and a couple shirts.  Definitely worth the trip.  We hit a few other stores and then headed back.

Traffic was horrendous on International Drive though, (at 9:45 at night!) and I missed the onramp for I-4.  Had to circle around Universal to get on I-4 a bit farther out and then we finally got home.  NO PARKING spots to be found anywhere near our building, and we ended up way at the other end of the complex.  Oh well, at least there was a spot someplace!   Off to watch some TV in their bunk beds, and listen to the new CD.  We all crashed by about midnight and look forward to another pool day tomorrow!
