Time for our Illuminations Cruise with
Kelli and family (Khay). As we approached the Yacht Club marina,
Kelli picked us out right away. (I had sent a family picture from
last year). Checked in with captain Aaron who was very friendly and
a lot of fun. FULL of bad jokes and puns! :-) We loaded
onto our pontoon boat and got settled. These boats are very comfortable,
and each family having the front left or right side of the boat to themselves.
(Kelli also has four in her family) There were a few open seats
in the back since the boats hold up to 10, I believe.
It was great talking with Kelli and her family. They were all very
nice, and it had been a big day for them - Magic Kingdom, Cinderella Breakfast
and 1900 Park Fare Dinner followed by the cruise! I know my two little
ones would have been a wee bit testy by then, but Kelli's son Regan (2) and
daughter Randi (5) were doing great! Kelli's husband, Keith, is like
Kristen. They both leave the obsessive planning to their spouses, right
Kelli? :-)
We headed out for the MGM area and I really enjoyed the ride. It
was a very pleasant night, and there was a nice breeze from cruising down
the waterway. Aaron would point out details, ask questions and share
some 'great' jokes! :-)
We then sailed back to the Boardwalk area and parked under the bridge
in France inside Epcot. We we right next to the other pontoon boats,
and then Aaron and Jeff (the captain of the closest boat) had a 'bad' joke
contest until Illuminations started. Aaron was the winner, but it was
very close. They both told some pretty horrible jokes! :-)
It was time for the show to start, and it was perfect. The wind
was blowing away from us, so no problem there. We had a fantastic
view, and I saw more this year than any other year. I think everyone
enjoyed the show, even my three year old that was not too happy with Mommy
and Daddy for forgetting her earplugs in the room! :-) oops.
Mommy just got to watch the show with her hands over Maddy's ears!
We cruised back to the dock, and got a couple family group pictures with
Aaron. Said our goodbyes to Kelli and family, and then went on a search
for some Ice Cream. Beaches and Cream was packed and since the kids
were pretty well rested from a long nap, we headed around the Boardwalk.
Stopped at Sea Shore Sweets for Ice cream and just enjoyed the Boardwalk
activity. I noticed they are refurbishing large sections of the Boardwalk
Villa Rooms. These sections are completely hidden behind screens, so
I would assume that none of these rooms can be rented. Any of the occupants
would have NO view at all (except the scaffolding).
We headed back and got everyone to bed. Tomorrow is MGM!
