Today we are going to Universal Studios.  We grabbed a quick, light breakfast at the resort's coffee shop, Cafe Espresso.  $11 for a bagel, a muffin, one pastry and one cup of coffee.  I miss eating in the room at the villas!  ;-)  It was very nice sitting outside waiting for the boat, and looked to be both another nice day and another HOT day.

Took a few more pictures while walking over to the pier, and then rode a full boat to Citywalk (a few people were turned away - they won't allow you to stand on the boats).

We zipped right into Universal Studios with our new photo ID passes, and a guard does a quick check of any bags after you enter the gate.  I like Disney's bag check better. Universal's method could really back up the lines.

A carload of characters came up the street just as we entered the park.  Sponge Bob and Shrek were both on there, and we got pictures with both of them.  The girls love both of these characters.

We headed in the general direction of tamer kids rides, and while checking a map (something I never do in the Disney parks) a very helpful employee asked us if we needed help and gave us a quick park overview.  I thought this was a nice touch, and it was appreciated.

We started out going on ET, and this was a fun ride.  The darker beginning was a bit much for Maddy, but she loved it after a while.  She was still pretty leary after the 'Posieden's Fury' fiasco the day before!  :-)

On to the KidZone area which was empty.  Here they have the Barney Show, Woody Woodpecker's Nuthouse Coaster, Fievel's Playland and a Curious George Goes to Town play area.  The KidZone was pretty empty and we quickly rode the coaster several times with no wait at all. The girls loved this ride.  We walked through the Curious George area, but it is almost exclusively a water area playground, and we didn't want the girls to get soaked.  We decided to come back wearing bathing suits after an afternoon break.

Both the Barney show and Animal Planet Live didn't start shows until later, so we headed toward Men In Black.  We went on Back to the Future first, which neither Brinn or Madison cared for all that much.  Kristen and I thought it was pretty good though.  Front of the line jumped us right on this ride as well.

We wandered just a bit, and the first Barney show was ready to start so we headed there.  Madison LOVED this show - and Brinn liked it, but thinks she is too old for Barney.  The show was cute, with Barney, Baby Bop and BJ in attendance.  They play several songs all parents learn to dread, and then Barney walks around and quickly greets all the kids (no posing for pictures or autographs though).  We spent some time playing in the Barney play area outside the show until it was time for Animal Planet Live.  This was a very good show, and we all enjoyed it quite a bit.

Lunch time, so we just grabbed a quick bite at a food stand.  Hotdogs for the girls, and I got a Turkey Leg.  Not too bad for a quick meal, and there was shaded seating with a fan right over each table.  A nice break from that brutal sun.  The park also has a ton of large misters/fans that cool you down as you walk around or wait in line.  They were very much appreciated today!

We headed into the park, and took a spin on Men in Black.  This was a fun ride, and even Maddy enjoyed it.  I think I'd need to ride it a few times to really figure it out, but the girls were getting cranky, and we headed back for nap time.  We just enjoyed walking through the park and taking in the excellent themeing.  Universal has done a great job with the various areas.

The line for Portofino Bay boat was long, and we just missed the cutoff.  The Hard Rock boat captain took pity and invited us to ride her boat and then walk the rest of the way (about a five minute walk) to our resort.  We took her up on it, and the walk was really quite pleasant (at least in the shaded areas).  Had some great views of the resort on the way over and the girls loved walking under three bridges and then yelling to hear the great echos.  :-)

We were all tired, and everyone took a nap.  Changed the girls into swim suits and coverups and headed back to the parks.

I did Terminator 2 while Kristen and the girls went to the kids play areas.   It took FOREVER to get into the Terminator show.  It only runs every so often, and holds about a zillion people.  It ended up being worth the wait though.  This is the best 3D show I've seen.  Amazing.  Good thing the kids didn't go - they would have been very scared.

Used our radios to track down Kristen and the girls.  These things are invaluable when you split up like this.  They were still playing in the Curious George area, so I found them there and we all played some more.  Took another ride on the Woody Roller Coaster (using the resort express to zip past a rather long line) and then headed to the Nickelodeon area.  The girls had no interest in the Nick Show itself, but we saw a few more characters, and got pictures with Woody Woodpecker.  We rode on the Hanna-Barbera ride and while a bit rough on your back (even Brinn was complaining), it was fun.

It was starting to get close to 7pm and the parks closed at 8pm.  We all wanted to go back to Islands of Adventure (IOA).  Kristen and I HAD to ride Hulk one more time, and the girls wanted to go through Seuss Landing again.

We zipped out of Univeral Studios and walked over to IOA. Used the resort IDs to walk right on the Hulk, and then while Kristen rode, I took the girls on the Storm Force Accelatron (suped up teacups).  We finished at the same time.  On over to Seuss Landing and right on Cat in the Hat.  Made a quick pitstop in the Cat in the Hat store so Kristen could buy a Seuss T-shirt.  She is a Special Education teacher in a primary school, and they do a whole unit on Dr. Seuss.

We had enough time to ride the Seuss Caro-Seuss-el, and then beat the crowds out of the park and over to the Hard Rock Cafe.  Well, we didn't beat all the crowds to the cafe... There was a LONG line of people waiting to get in. (8pm on a Saturday night, so I guess its to be expected).

Internet to the rescue again!  I had signed up for the Hard Rock "All Access" Card, that is supposed to give you front of the line seating when you go to any Hard Rock Cafe.  Costs $25 from their hardrock.com site and they send you a few Hard Rock related items, (I received a nice baseball cap, pin and keychain) and you get a $20 credit on the card.  Not too shabby.  I walked up to the desk where a line of people that I could not even see the end of were waiting with the card in my hand.  I didn't even have to say anything, she saw the card and immediately got on her radio, and we were seated at the next open table.  WOW.  I don't know how long this perk will last, but it sure was great!  The place is huge, and the food was very good.

As we headed out, we saw the Portofino Bay boat just pulling out.  It was a nice night, so we decided to just walk back.  It is a very nice walk (about 15 minutes) along a beautifully landscaped walkway.  The resorts are beautiful at night, and we were glad we walked.

Back to the room and got everything packed up.  Our last sleep in Orlando.
