Got ready and headed to the Studios around 3:30pm.
Split up upon entering because I wanted to ride Tower of Terror (ToT)
tonight! Girls headed for Star Tours – their favorite! I grabbed a fast
pass for later and Kristen got a bit lost on the way to Star
Tours. Thank goodness for radios, because I finally tracked them
down and we all headed to Star Tours together. Only a 10 minute
wait (seemed faster) and we were off on our tour! :-) The girls
would ride this all day!
Next up was the backlot tour. I really wanted to do this one this
year (another one I’ve always missed). It was fun, but a lot is
blocked off right now while they work on the next attraction – stunts
cars? I believe...
Back JUST in time to run for the 5:30 parade. We
eventually found a crowded, but decent spot (beggars can’t be choosers
when you show up 5 minutes before parade time!) At least the
girls got good views! It was a great parade, but before the
end the heavens opened up and it started REALLY pouring! I got one last
picture of Lilo and Stitch as stitch pulled out an umbrella (always
prepared!) but missed the rest as I ran for cover to put the camera
away. Of course, we had left the stroller ALL the way back at the
Backlot tour because we had run to the parade so as not to miss
it! And all our ponchos were in the stroller.
Oops!
We had a dinner reservation in less than 15 minutes, so
we headed out into the rain. I ran back for the stroller, and
then it was on to Mama Melrose for dinner. We had cancelled our
Fantasmic dinner package (since we already saw Fantasmic) but still
wanted to eat there. They got us in pretty quickly and dinner was
very good. As we finished I only had less than 15 minutes left in
my Fast Pass window for ToT. So I left while Kristen paid the
bill. I pretty much ran across the park and made it with 2
minutes to spare. I know they will sometimes let you in past your
time, but I didn’t want today to be the exception to that rule.
The fast pass line was pretty backed up as it was – and it looked like
the Standby line wasn’t moving at all!
As I finally worked my way to the front of the line, the
CM giving the spiel before entering the elevator was none other than
Owen! I’m assuming this HAS to be Roodad’s son, but I was chicken
to ask him. Him being in character and all while getting us
prepared for our ride. He did a great job, and I was sorry I
didn’t say anything after the chance was past! Anyway, the ride
was great, and the randomness really increased the intensity. It
was a great ride!
OK, back to the girls and they had just finished another round on Star
Tours (told you they loved it!). It was time to get going.
The girls are super tired, and we have an early morning at Universal
Studios tomorrow.
