ah! It worked. For this spread, the journalling is a little book behind the page, accessed by pulling on the bow at the top of the page.

What a beautiful layout - I am VERY impressed by the amount of pictures you got on these pages! I will be scraplifting this, no doubt - it has a really nice flow!
