So, I'm adicted to Trading Spaces, While You Were Out, and I have been know to catch a stray episode of Clean Sweep and What Not To Wear.

My friends keep telling me that they are going to get me some premium channels for Christmas.

I also watch more manly shows like Bob Villa's Home Again and This Old House.

I like movies where stuff blows up and bullets fly. My DVD collection includes stuff like the Terminator movies, Rambos 2 & 3, The Rock, Blue Thunder, Iron Eagle, Big Trouble In Little China, Red Dawn, Broken Arrow, Dirty Harry, Quigley Down Under, The Dirty Dozen, Great Escape, and Kelly's Heroes, Predators 1 and 2, all 4 Lethal Weapons, and a bunch more like that. The closest thing I have to a chick flick is Miss Congeniality (Snort!).

Am I the only guy out there who takes grief for liking those un-manly decorating shows? Does anybody else find themselves defending the shows with things like, "Well, they build stuff. They use POWER TOOLS!" Or maybe, "Yeah, but see that designer, she's really cute." Or even, "That carpenter is a real comedian. He's hillarious!"

Is there any way to convince my friends that it's not un-manly to watch Trading Spaces, as long as I watch something with guns and bombs afterward?

Do ya feel lucky, punk?

How can Trading Places be an unManly show -- there are tools, saws, and electrical powered thingys!

LOL - my brother watches it - in fact he got me hooked on it!

Don't ever apologize for your viewing habits. TV is here to entertain not to be a diagnostic for our next psychiatric exam. Laugh with anyone who taunts you about the decorating shows. You know how much fun they are and they are just missing out.

By the way, I'm so proud of you for having my favorite movie, "Red Dawn," in your collection.

I think Trading Spaces could pretty much equate to Hockey... You are always waiting for that mild mannered mother of three to wrap her hands around that designer's neck and toss her to the floor!!!!

"Thwap, thwap, THWAP ... what the &*^$ were you THINKING?!?!"

Speaking of Trading Spaces (which the whole family loves, including DH) did anyone see the 3 hour special last night? Trading spaces they hated it? I so wanted to watch that but it was Bears/ Packers night on Monday Night Football and since DH is HUGE packers fan and DS and DD#1 are HUGE Bears fans (they get that from their Grampa Bookwood) Football was the order of the night. I sure hope they changed that poor couples beautiful Dining room (the one the "new " designer turned green) back to it's lovely wood.

Those three hours were disappointing, Bookwood. Basically they reran 3 episodes to nearly the same minutes they ran originally and then added a sparse few minutes at the end after the homeowner's reaction. I was expecting lots more "after" footage and was let down. Maybe the 100,000 Grand TS will make up for it.

And the dining room was brought back from Turquoise Nightmare status. They got rid of the table top and pretty much everything else. You could see a little bit of Crying Pam's conversion from Doug Brown to Barn Red country. Jessie from Laurie Brown Rage fame, hadn't changed her abode from the 'brown/taupe' she hit her neighbors over.

I was a little miffed at the fact that they touted this They Hated It special all week as if it was going to be two hours of aftershocks, interviews, and updates on the rooms, but all they did was re-air the episodes and run 2 or 3 minutes of new stuff after each one.

I'm shocked that Laurie's Harvest Taupe room is nearly unchanged from her design.

Doug was in full-on Doug mode in his interview over the Fireplace That Got Eaten; he pretty much told the homeowners that he was a design god and they were ignorant peasants, and if they didn't worship him they could go to blazes. Not surprizing, since this is Doug's attitude on pretty much every show.

I didn't even see the Turquoise Nightmare finale; I switched over to CSI: Miami. I didn't hate the room. I thought it was imaginative and I liked some features of it, but it was way over the top for a residence. It was more suited to be a dining room in a hotel or a cruise ship (add some Mickey heads and it would fit right in on the Magic or Wonder). Not an auspicious beginning for a new designer.

I hope the 100 Grand episode is better, but with Doug and Lori as designers, I'm not super-enthused. Niether is my favorite, either in style or attitude. I'd much rather have seen Crazy Hildy together with Kia or Vern or Frank or Geneveve.

I just think your friends are jealous of you Will. You are a man who is willing to admit what he likes, no matter what they think. That is a great quality for any man to have.

Dh is a fan of TS and I find it makes him more creative when we remodel a room in our house.

Sheryl :minnie: who LOVES Miss Congeniality!!

Thanks for the update everyone, I'm glad that blue/green dinig room was restored to it's original beauty- I loved all the woods in that room. See what that new guy (what's his name) did made me shudder.

DH watches right along with me. I've even got him watching What Not to Wear! We went to the mall the other day, and he was commenting on what this one woman should have been wearing instead of what she was!

So ya see, Will? What you need is a wife to blame for your viewing habits!:rofl::rofl::rofl:

Anyway, I was glad that I taped the 3 hour they hated it. That way I could skip to the end to see the interviews. I can not believe that woman, beating on her neighbor, and then not even CHANGING the room! Did y'all get the feeling that those neighbors aren't exactly friends anymore? I wouldn't be real friendly with someone who tackled me on National TV either! And then had the nerve to decide they liked it after all!

The 100 Grand episode will be interesting to see! But I wish they'd picked different designers. Laurie will just use the extra money to buy more orange and lime paint and ugly fabric with monkeys!

Doug is such a diva, but I've found that I like him a lot better on TS:Family. Around kids, he is nice and EXPLAINS things!

Will, Will, Will...who cares what anyone else thinks?! My hubby watches all the shows - and uses all those big tools (grrrr), loves all those movies, yet never missed an episode of A Wedding Story the first year it was out. Go figure! I thought it was knida sweet! Have you checked out the cooking shows on FoodTV? Most of the chefs there are M-E-N!

Nancy :mickeyXmas:

PS - Me thinks those 'friends' dusth protest too much! Hmmm...

:tink: Today my DH & I were watching what he calls the "chick channel" and two movies in a row had me bawling like a baby & he says, "these chick channel movies really get to you", meaning both of us. :tink:
