Well, we currently have the much desired AP discount that many are happy with... And there are rumors of some new perks coming up like a 10% discount at DisneyDirect.com, etc.

What are the three things you'd love to see as DVC perks down the road?

I'm off to think about it myself... :)

Hmm, Interesting question Tag.

1. I would like to see the points go a little farther with the cruise. We shouldn't need to sell our points to apply to the cruise.

2. A special DVC mug you can use anywhere for a year

3. The ability to make dining arrangements without waiting on hold (a special number, or let member services perform this).

1. Love the AP discount
2. Outsourcing the shopping privilege to a company like wegoshop to broaden the selections available for our home away from home and make the process more seamless (such as we pay in advance and wego can deliver to DVC direct which can store until we're room assigned)
3. Consistent member parties throughout the year (maybe have a theme for each season)

I'm VERY happy with the current perks as is though, as they are icing on the cake to me.

Great question Tag!
1 Having our points work for a full cruise equivilant
2 Give us the 10% shopping discount anywhere in the World, not just DTD
3 Expand our DVC merchandise lines, there are just so many things I would like to see a DVC logo on!

And Ken, I always make my ADRs through Member Services; in fact I just got though booking everying thing for the October trip with them and we aren't staying DVC this time.

I'd like to see at least a Members Day discount, like at Vero and HHI, fo rshopping and dining in the World and DD. For instance, every Wednesday in HHI Members receive a 10% on-site dining discount. A few years back we also received a 10% store discount at HHI on Member's Day, but that ended. I'd even suggest making Members where a pin or something on Member's Day in order to make the discount work. This would advertise to other park go-ers the numbers of Members on hand and the special priviledges Members could receive.

I'd also like to be able to make ressies on-line and check accounts on-line.

The Member part at PI was a hit. I'd do that every time for sure. (Where you there on 8/23 Tagrel? We were and had a blast.)

Thanks.

Guys, I booked my 7 night Disney cruise last Dec with my DVC points. I don't remember having to pay for anything! :confused2: I'm sure I just used my points the same as if I were booking a room.

1- definitley want too see better merchandise with the DVC logo on it.
2- the AP discount for DVC members is awesome, but how about giving discounts on regular park tickets. Just b/c I'm DVC, that doesnt mean I go that often to use an AP.
3- well, now I'm stretching a bit, but how about a DVC bus at each resort. You show them your DVC card and they take you anywhere on property you need to go!! :-) THAT would be a sweet perk!

Good thread Tag, I'm sure I'll come up with more.

Love the Ap discount - first time AP for me.

Other Perks -
1) I would like a discount on 4 day ticket or more
2) Weekly Member party would be a great perk
3) A special name badge with DVC Logo Guest of Honor -

1) A good dining plan
2) As the numbers skyrocket, I think a really cool perk would be a place like Club 33 inside one of the theme parks that is only for DVC members.
3) A wish for more than three perks

1. I second the MYW discouont, although the price is pretty good to start with
2. Better cruise/Disney collection exchanges
3. Online everything. ADR's included. :D

wow - I don't really know. I hope hope hope the AP discount sticks around. A lot of people seem to want the dining plans for DVC members and I am sure for many it would be used well, but for my family, my children just don't eat enough to justify it at this point.

So - since we don't have to list the current benefits...let me go with

1. Non-smoking becoming a guarantee at time of booking - not simply a request. (not exactly what you are looking for I know - but it worries me every time I go to check in as I have a son with allergy/asthma issues {medically diagnosed but I don't want to have to go that route with WDW} )

2. An entire ship to be used and sold as a DVC cruiseline with better point to point values.

3. DDE discount offered to DVC members if they don't allow DVC members to buy into the dining plans in the future (without an AP purchase).

Gosh - I don't want to be contrary, but my head distinguishes between what I wish for a perk (things outside of DVC that are really WDW but we use as park guests) and what I wish for improvements to the DVC program (things unique to DVC) - I see a difference between the two.

So for perks:

1. DVC Fast Passes that you can get at the hotel
2. Optional meal program - not tied to park ticket. Would like to have a self-service menu for selecting ## counter service, ##sit-downs, ## snacks by person. Select and pay for at check-in. Oh, boy I think that's a tall order.
3. Better discount on MYW tickets than the general public advance tickets

And for DVC program improvement:

1. Ability to book NS guaranteed
2. Online account access
3. Ability to know where you are on a waitlist

I agree with you Kathleena...they are different....it was just what came to my mind FIRST when thinking of what DVC could do for "me".

Here are my three picks:

1) DVC lounge in each park. They eliminated teh AP lounge just as I bought my first AP. I think that it would be great if we had one of our own! (not to mention a nice cold soda in a nice cool lounge on a hot, hot day at DAK would be a welcome relief!)

2) Discounted rate for add-ons. Something like $10/point off the best sales rate.

3) I like the DVC mug idea that you can purchase and use at other DVC resorts for a year. That would inspire me to purchase more points!! (hey, wait a minute - who's saving money now?!)

My fav perk is WELCOME HOME and free VALET PARKING!

I like llovell's idea of guaranteed nonsmoking, but I really think that should be WORLD wide and not just a DVC perk.

While all the above ideas are good, I just can't think of anything specific that I'd really really want well, except more points! HA! Poly DVC HA!

I would like a better discount on Tickets and not just Annual Passes.

I also like the idea of Fast Passes for DVC members before you get to the park.

My third choice would be better Cruise pricing using your points. :captain:

Great thread idea! hmmmm....this is a tough one as I am still a DVC newbie. so far I have been able to get the AP at a discount rate (gotta like that one!) Like the idea of the mugs you can use through out the year and FP for DVC that would be great!

2. A special DVC mug you can use anywhere for a year

They already do this -- trouble is, they apparently don't make very many and don't distribute them widely enough, LOL!

My sister went to Vero in August while me and my crew went to HHI. ON her way back home, she stopped off to visit us at HHI and pulled out her refillable mug she had just bought at Vero. She said they had told her at Vero it could be "used at ANY DVC, for the REST of the YEAR." I thought to myself, "Yeah - RIGHT, SUUUUURe they did!" But then she showed me the design of the mug -- it said "Disney Vacation Club" and had the usual DVc design, surrounded by little icons that represented EVERY ONE of the DVC "fleet"! A little coonskin cap and musket for VWL, I think it was a sand castle for Vero, and some fishing gear and creel for HHI, etc. And sure enough -- she went to Tide Me Over at HHI and asked for a "fill-up" and the guy at the window said, "Wow! You're LUCKY! Not many of these left around!" He in fact confirmed that her mugs are "good for the rest of the year, at ANY DVC resort!"

So it does exist -- it's just too rare and hard to find, I guess! Maybe they sell them at Vero for their guests who elect to do a few days of WDW and a few days of beach time? I dunno.

I have a thread on this board somewhere about those mugs and said I would have to take a pic of my sister's mugs and post it here... still need to do that, I guess! I think it was Den that suggested I simply "mug" my sis and make off with her mugs... but I'd rather have my own set, thanks... not much of 2005 left and I need some for 2006, LOL!

OH YEAH... just to stay on-topic... my 3 wishes for perks:

(1) DVC discount for on-line orders at Disney Direct
(2) Member events more frequently and with more advance-notice or even scheduled regularity (like first week of month or every other Tuesday or whatever...) I plan at the 11 mos window... or 7 mos at the latest. By the time they announce a members event - my plans are already set in stone!
(3) Dining plan. I know some have said that with small kids, a dining plan wouldn't pay off... but just wait til you have 10-11 yrs old kids... they still don't eat much, but you're stuck paying adult fare prices now for most meals! The buffets will kill ya ... don't even TALK about HDDR, LOL! My friend just went to WDW on the free dining plan... it just seems like there ought to be a way to let DVC members enjoy a "piece" of the current packages being offered by Disney. If not a dining plan... then could I please buy a DDE WITHOUT buying an AP? We are park-hopper folks for now...
