Hi Everyone,

Well you all know that my son and I are really looking forward to our FIRST EVER MouseFest. Well, my son is the biggest sports geek and athlete around for a 7 year old and he plays everything he can (baseball, basketball, soccer etc) - but his favorite of all time is Baseball and the Chicago Cubs!

We had to take spring break this year to Arizona to go to some games - that is how into this he is.

Well - it turns out that during the exact same time that we will be there for MouseFest, so will the Cubs Fan Grand Gathering. This is possibly going to end up being his birthday surprise.

My Question - there are some activities that are part of this package - I wondered if anyone has done them before and how they were because I would like to go to some Tag / MF meets and do the Cubs things that would be fun for John.

Here is what is included:
- Private ride on Soarin followed by breakfast and question and answer session with Cubs players / coaches at the Odyssey (what is this?)
- Batting, Fielding and Pitching lessons at the Sports Complex (sounds like 8am to 1 pm thing)
- Special Illuminations Viewing and dessert buffet - ? what and where is this?
- Private party in Dinoland with dinner buffet and carnival games ??

Have any of you done any of these things and how were they. This thing is limited to 200 people and I have no idea how many Cubs there will be?

If this will be more trouble than it is worth then I won't even tell John but if it may be fun -we will have to rearrange our Tag schedule and fit this in.

Thanks, as always, for any input!!

Without knowing the particulars, I'd have to say the Illuminations dessert party would most likely be at that piece of land that juts out underneath the international bridge (between France and UK)

I have never been or for that matter even heard of this but some of those things listed sound wonderful. I would try to do some of both - Cubs & MouseFest. That private Soarin' ride sounds wonderful as does the private party at Dinoland. Of course the batting one sounds like a kids dream too. Good luck, I think there are enough meets that you could do some of both.

While I've never been to any of these events, I do 'recognize' a few places.

Odyssey used to be counter service restaurant, that is now closed to the public (except for the bathrooms) and only used for private events. It's located right between Mexico and Future World.

The Illuminations Dessert Buffet is a party on one of the 'terraces' around WS lagoon. There are terraces in front of the UK, France and Italy, I believe. It's a wonderful private party atmosphere to watch Illuminations from.

I would guess the Dinoland party, would be after hours in the AK, with Dinoland setup for a private party. You didnt' say they mentioned any rides open, but it sounds like they'll at least have a carnival atmosphere and free food.

Hope that helps.

OHMYGOSH! Jan what a wonderful birthday it would be for John! All the parts of the pkg sound great! The IllumiNations dessert party is a special viewing place with goodies (gee, just like what it says!) - Amy has done this and could tell you more about it, but I know it's fun!

Gosh, every component just sounds like the best birthday ever! And he'll get to meet some of the Cubs?? Oh, how my dad would've loved that!

Where will they put you up - at All Star Sports?

Gosh, I'd do for it and try to fit in some other MF meets - it just seems meant to be!

WooHoo!!!

I didn't do it as part of a Grand Gathering, but have had an Illuminations Dessert Buffet. They are usually held in the little area just next to the bridge and viewing from that area is perfect. Plus the desserts were absolutely scrumptious and plentiful. It certainly felt special!!

I think it's a great thing (I had seen this I just don't remember where). If it were me I'd want to do the skills session at WWOS and maybe one other thing (which would be the soaring and breakfast- that's just my thoughts though!)
