Since Disneyland's birthday is being celebrated for 18 months, I'm not really 'late' am I?

Here are the standard disclaimers....

Amateur quality, it may take a while for the clips to download...and for some reason, they were loading on my browser from the bottom up.

So without further ado...here's a few more tastes of Disneyland's 50th Anniversary celebration!

Walt Disney's Parade of Dreams

This parade runs twice a day. Once mid afternoon and then a second time at dusk. What I liked best about it is the mix of characters. Rather than what I call 'Princesses on Parade', they have floats for a mix of classic films including Alice in Wonderland.

Remember Dreams Come True

http://www.cgrobin.com/DL05/Clips/Remember/

This is a wonderful fireworks display narrated by Julie Andrews that contains and mix of Wishes, and segments saluting various attractions from the Monorail spiel to Pirates of the Caribbean complete with fireworks volleying back and forth over the Castle.

Unfortunately the first day I watched the fireworks from in front of the Castle, I thought I'd get a better spot the next day. Uh...didn't happen, so I don't have any good clips with the full effect. One 'interesting' difference, is that due to height of DL's Castle, when they do the scene where the project the Magic Mirror on WDW's Castle, at DL they have to project it on the Matterhorn which is to the Castle's right. I really wish I had a picture of this to show you.

Also because DL has limited space it's hard to find a good spot to watch unless you get their early and wait. I was told by CM's you cannot see the fireworks if you stand further back on Main Street. The fireworks are not shot up as high as we are used to at WDW, do probably to a combination of the height of the Castle and the close proximity of homes and business around the park. Therefor trees blocking your view both in front and behind the Castle can be a problem. You can just imagine how crowded the Hub gets when the majority of guests try to cram in to see it. Even with all the logistical problems we aren't used to..it's an amazing and moving fireworks show, that truly reflects of the history of Disneyland.

Here are a few clips... Where you see Fantasyland (why don't they turn off the lights on the carousel!) are from behind the Castle. The ones with 'trees' are the higher bursts coming from the berm/Toontown area.

And a few more...

It's a Small World and night shots of the Castle and Main Street

http://www.cgrobin.com/DL05/Clips/

It's a Small World actually has an entire plaza dedicated to it. Considering how tight space is in DL, it's amazing how 'open' this area is. The queue for the ride....repeat it with me boys and girls....has NO SHADE! (I came back after sundown to actually ride the attraction.)

The facade is beautifully done and the clock actually 'performs'. The attraction itself didn't impress me as being better than the WDW version. I was suprised at the number of 'black walls' I encountered between sections. I think painting and theming them to the attraction would have been less obtrusive.

I got some very short clips of the Castle (you can make out the Partners statue in front of it) and looking down Main Street, basically because I was having trouble getting a good still shot. On the upside, you can hear snippets of Main Street music in the background.
