View Full Version : Do we have more than one private mailbox?

I just went to send a pm to someone from the memberlist. I found her name and sent the pm. Then there was a spot that said 'reload private messages' so I clicked it, expecting to go to my inbox.

Instead, there was a short list of two messages (from friendly strangers, not my usual pm buddies), neither of which I had seen and one was over a month old. (no desktop menu bars or smileys visible) I answered them and then came over to the index and clicked on messages in the usual way to see how I could have missed them - and NEITHER ONE WAS THERE!

NOW I'm wondering if the PM I sent from that member list is going to go to my recipients mailbox, or out to this 'mystery' mailbox!

Sigh, I just figured this out recently myself.... And haven't really found a fix yet....

To answer your question, its going to the MYSTERY mailbox.

There are TWO PM systems, and I have found no way to completely shut off the second one.

If you use the memberlist that shows up from the left hand side menu (running maximized), and send a PM, then it uses the 'mystery' PM system. This is one that is provided by the PostNuke software that allows integration of the calendars, news, forum, etc, etc...

If you use the memberlist at the top of the forum pages, you get the 'normal' PM system that is part of the forum software.

I'll have to revisit this problem, and see what I can do about it....

Any idea how to get my posted messages back so i can send them to the 'real' mailbox?

Nope. The Postnuke Private Messages system is pretty simple. That is why I 'mostly' had it turned off. The problem is that the Postnuke Memberlist links to it and I can't shut if off from there without software changes.

I've temporarily added a link to Private Messages in the menu on the left hand side (when running maximized). Everyone can use this to check out their messages and see if they have any in that PM system. And you can have someone send you a copy that you can resend.

I would HIGHLY suggest ONLY using the PM system that works from the forum pages. It looks NOTHING like the Nostnuke system, so if something doesn't look right, take a second look before hitting send.

Using the Postnuke PM system could cause MANY to never read or see your PM to them. And it WILL go away as soon as I figure out a way to do it cleanly.
