Greetings Taginators!

I'm so excited there is a forum just for Disney Sea here. Originally we were going to go there this year, but the trip had to be pushed back to 2004. We still haven't set dates in the year 2004, but I'll start my countdown anyway. Let's say 400 days and counting, with adjustments to that when the time is set. So let the Disney Sea Dreaming commence! :D

Hotel Mira Costa

Imagine the Italian Riviera and then place it smack dab on top of the latest dynamo Disney park. There you have Disney Sea's one and only hotel directly on property. At certain times of the year, it is an almost impossible reservation to secure any less than a year or more out. It is pricey but has more modest rooms which would compare favorably with other Tokyo better accommodations. We figure, based on current exchange rates it will cost around 400 per night per room during a moderate season.

The Mira Costa is right at the entrance to Disney Sea, Tokyo's latest Disney park. It would be like placing the Grand Floridian next to the Disney Train Station in the Magic Kingdom.

If you can't swing that kind of nightly fee for sleepy time, then there are a few other 'official' hotels nearby. They would be the equivalent of a Downtown Disney resort, nice but not quite the atmosphere of an onsite property. Also, even an outlying hotel would not be so inconvenient. The train station for the Tokyo resorts lets you off within easy walking distance to the park entrances. However, if you are like I, you dream of staying there. So the Hotel Mira Costa is dream number one. 400 days and counting!

dear Taginator Moley,

I'm really happy for you that you'll be able to make this trip happen! From what I understand, Disney Seas has some unique Disney attractions -- do you have a couple at the top of your Must Try It list?

Beautiful photos, babe. More! More!

Oh, I have several must-sees while there. I'll feature them in the weeks ahead on the countdown. Journey to the Center of the Earth, Stormrider, Sinbad, Aquatopia and for sheer Fantasyland type fun, The Blowfish Balloon Race. Talk about a signature ride for me!

Okay, okay, I can't mention my signature ride and not post a pic of it.

Look at the body on that baby! I'm going to look good on that ride. :D I figure if they have Early Entry featuring their equivalent of Fantasyland, called Mermaid Lagoon, then I can easily topple all those little Japanese kids and successfully claw my way to the front of the line!

 Moley! I'm shocked! Shocked and stunned!

I'm looking forward to learning about the different attractions as you count down to your adventure even though I suspect we'll all end up wishing many of them would be built at Disney World, too. Thanks for the blowfish photo, Moley. It's great.

Moley,
Toyko Disney Seas is worth the trip. We had the best time there. In fact we spent two days at the Disney Seas. Loved the fact that we could once again ride 2000 Leagues Under the Sea. All the rides were great and we did not have to wait more than 20 minutes in any line.

It was our wedding anniversary while we were there so we had a special dinner in the Mira Costa Hotel. The restaurant was very interesting...the front part of the restaurant was a buffet that could handle hundreds of diners but in the back was a private dining area on par with Citricos or Fly Fish. We had a great diner and just before dessert is served you are invited out on the balconey for the evening performance of Illuminations (Japenese style). It is a great view of the lagoon and Illuminations. When it is over ervryone returns to their sets for coffee and desserts. For our anniversary they made a special dessert with a chocolate anniversary card and they took our picture which they presented to us framed as we left the restaurant. Nice Huh?

Just remember when they advertise "Home Cooking" they mean sushi.

Enjoy your trip.

Thank you Pockets!

i remember your trip report and the description of the anniversary night was so delightful with thespecial dnner and the show. We have had to delay our trip again so I haven't been back to the countdown for Tokyo in awhile. We will get there someday though, and I printed out your report as a guide for things we want to do, too. It would be wonderful if you could post it here as your trip reporting is some of the best. :)

Moley,

A few months back my computer crashed. I may have kicked it a bit hard and way I lost everything. If I can find the original notes I will try to recreate it. You are so kind to remember it.

Well Moley, its almost a year later, did you make any solid plans yet?? I REALLY want to go to Disney Sea! Maybe in a couple more years.

I dont like to ask stupid questions(yes I do), but is all the food in the parks Chinese?? Or Japannese I guess. Can I get a good old cheeseburger or chicken fingers there??

Dennis, we've delayed this trip so many times. I stopped my countdown long ago. Now it looks like we won't go until 2006.

The food in the parks is not just Japanese cuisine. In fact, it is mostly American/European in choices. You can get burgers there, but not sure about chicken fingers.
