Ok...I am finding myself addicted all of a sudden to the Disney pins. Please help! I'm sure someone here(ok,maybe more than just one of you...'fess up!)collects Disney Pins. I don't even LIKE pins in general,& yet here I am, collecting some pins! Now I'm looking for cheap or free lanyards.Does anyone know if that Kellogg's offer is still around?
Is this really a worthwhile hobbie? I've been warned on other boards not to get "sucked" in & yet here I am,in trouble  . What should I do? quit while I'm ahead? Get out while I still can? relax, just get a few,& enjoy it? Please Help w/any suggestions, tips, advice, sympathy, etc!!!!

Oh Minderella, I so know what you mean. I had my hubby at the Disney Store a couple of years ago every Saturday morning at 6 am to get the 100 Years of Magic pins! And he even got into it!
TryDiz Pins (http://www.dizpins.com/) to look and make a wish list for more pins.
I've seen some pretty cheap lanyards at Walmart and our local Dollar Tree even had some one time!
Have fun!

Hi Minderella,
I wish I could tell to you run now, while you can still get away...but I'm hooked too and misery loves company! :D I started by creating lanyards for my nieces as Christmas gifts. Bought them each four discounted pins at the outlet mall then traded them in the parks for pins I thought the girls would like--mostly princess pins. By the time their lanyards were ready for giving, I was hooked!
Re: lanyards, I made my own for about $2 each from materials at the fabric store. Identical to those sold in WDW for $8. No one can tell a difference. Holler if you need a materials list and instructions. I can make them in about 20 minutes by hand while sitting on the couch watching TV.
Re: pins, watch the Disney Store online for close outs. Last time I checked they had some boxed sets of 10-12 pins reduced about 60%, bringing the cost of each pin down to about $3 each, including shipping (my basic spending limit per pin.) When the price gets that low I buy a set then load a few on my lanyard so that I have "tradeables" when I go to a park.
For me, the fun is trading with the CMs, so I rarely pay full price for any pin, but have had many pleasurable hours trading to fill lanyards for myself, my husband (collects Scrooge) and my son (collects Buzz). We may go for weeks without finding a new addition, then suddenly there's a Scrooge or Buzz on a CMs lanyard that we don't already have. The fun is in the hunt.
Must confess, I've recently decided that my collection represents My Memorable Disney Moments, so have had to pay full price for some pins that represent recent memories, like the limited edition Mission Space pin I bought to remind me of the first time I rode. It was a rainy day and I was ALONE in my space ship--no fellow riders. Something just short of a religious experience, and worth the $10 pin that will always make me think of my "first flight."
Also thinking I may have to spend the bucks for the Carousel of Progress pin, since I've never seen it on a CMs lanyard, and I never want to forget my first ride as a little girl at Disneyland, with my mother sitting next to me saying, "That's what it was like when I was a little girl," over and over again....And the Spaceship Earth pin so that I never forget the first time my two-year-old son got to the planetarium at the top, spun around to see the Earth hanging in the stary sky, and started yelling, "That's where I live! That's where I live!" LOL
Also, if you have pins you truly treasure, think about buying the locking backs that screw down with a little wrench. I never did, but then lost a favorite pin when my lanyard caught on something during a ride. Now I lock down those I would never trade, and keep the "tradeables" on with the regular backs. The locks come in pack of 10 and are about $9/pack. I know it adds another $1 to the cost of each pin but, for me, the time came to bit the bullet and make sure I didn't loose something else I treasured.
Happy collecting!

CelebrationMom: I've only seen the COP Disneyland pin. Is there one at WDW?

Steph: There is, although I didn't know there was a Disneyland version! [Actually--I should say that there is one for sale in the MK at the kiosk just outside COP. Maybe it says Disneyland on it??? I didn't look that closely!] If I'm going to shell out the $$$ for one, I should find the DL version, since that's where I have my fond memories of COP. Can you tell me where you saw it? Was it recently??? Thanks!

DL COP Pin (http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=2189135312&category=143)
I hope that worked. Is this the same pin they have at WDW. I absolutely love this ride, but we are never at WDW when they have it open now. I would love to have the WDW pin. I hope they still have them when we come down in December. Let me know if the stock is low.

:tink: It is an addiction, but I only get ones that I really want & never get something that I think I might trade. :tink:
