I've never been on a cruise. I'd like to consider a 3 day during our vacation this sept if the price is right. Can someone tell me where they leave from?, how I get there?, when the leave?, what I'll have to pay for when on board? THanks.....I guess I should start doing some leg work myself.......let me know what you think. There are 4 of us DD 9 and DS 7. I didn't know if I should try to fit this experience in.

Hi 3D, If you are considering a Disney Cruise, In addition to Disney's own website, I whole heartedly suggest you getting "Passporter's Field Guide to the Disney Cruise Line." I bought mine on Amazon and have had it only three months. It's full of dog eared pages, notes, magic marked, and highlighted things and places of interest. They take you step by step through every aspect of the planning for your Magical vacation. They also have a website. From there, they list other DCL websites. For booking, may I suggest the wonderful gals at "Magical Journey's." Karen just saved me $760, as a Fl. resident, on our Nov. Western Itinarary trip.
Happy planning, and good luck with your choice. Diane

Hey 3_D,

Answer me a couple of questions first...

Are you talking Sept. 2003 or Sept 2004?

Have you visited WDW before or is this your first trip?

I wouldn't consider a Disney Cruise an "experience to fit in", but rather a vacation destination in itself which COULD be coupled with a WDW trip.

Much of the information found in the Passporter's Field Guide referred to by Figgy above (which is an EXCELLENT resource by the way) can also be found hereat Deb Wils site:

http://www.wdwig.com/cruise/Dcruise.shtml

Mickey Morgan has collaborated on both this site and the field guide which give the best overview for a novice to the Disney Cruise Line.

A Disney Cruise can be quite expensive, especially without an early booking discount and can fill up months before sailing. Let us know more details and we'll try to answer all your questions.

Let's see We are talking 9/2003. I saw DCL had a cruise leaving 9/25 and return 9/28. This our second trip and would like to keep things fresh for DH so he will want to always come back. The ONLY reason I was considering this was that there is sooo much talk about there being BIG discounts on cruises right now. And I thought we might be able to afford it. I guess I should send an e-mail to Tink1 and see what she thinks. THANKS!

I have also read that there are lots of great deals on cruises, but I don't think you will find them on Disney. Maybe you'll be lucky -- hope so. We just booked for 10/2/04 - supposed to have gotten early booking discount but I'm not really sure how much we saved - maybe a couple of hundred dollars at best, I think. Disney can afford to keep their prices high because of all of the Disney addicts that are around (like us). This is our 3rd DCL cruise and we just love the friendly Disney atmosphere even if we have to pay a little more for it. If you can't get in this time, I hope you will get another chance!

Hi 3-D,
Three and Four night cruises are going to typically leave from Port Canaveral and head over to the Bahamas. Royal Caribbean has one of these itineraries and often has good deals; they are known to be a fun ship full of activities - and I think they are even bigger than the Disney ships now! There are a few 5 night cruises leaving from Tampa to the Western Caribbean (which is a much more interesting destination going to Mayan culture, imho  .... you would be sailing on the Carnival cruiseline which is certainly easier on the pocketbook than most cruiselines but isn't known for the quality Disney puts out.

Indeed, almost every cruiseline cruising the Caribbean is easier on the wallet than Disney - with Disney you get the characters AND the magic, n'est-ce-pas? :D

If your heart is set on Disney, I've got some pictures of the ships if you'd like to see them... just scroll down to Cruise Links:

Enjoy!
