This is an interesting article about Weddings at WDW. I always wondered how expensive they must be...

I think I'll start planting the 'eloping is good' message in my 4 and 6 year olds this weekend...

Never hurts to start planting the seed, especially since they already know all about WDW! Then again you may be too late!

 ACK! I can't believe the $$$$$ involved. I think you're onto a good strategy, Dave.

I think these weddings sound like a lot of fun! :bounce:

How about the "Win the Lottery" strategy for paying for the wedding? Serously, we considered doing the low-end package this winter and doing a vow renewal. It sounds so lovely, but with me off work for 2 months because of my back we decided not to go for that expense.

We celebrate 20 years together next month (awwwww!).

Our 12th anniversary is next month, too, which date? Ours is the 21st of September, 1991, and we honeymooned at where?

WALT DISNEY WORLD, OF COURSE!

Happy early Anniversary to you!

Woohoo, Tigger's Pal!

Our anniversary is September 11 :( It had to be somebody's. We are going to have a wonderful dinner in the secluded private dining room of the best restaurant in town! And say lovey things.

Wish we'd been able to afford a WDW Honeymoon. We honeymooned in Indianapolis where we were married...

Happy Anniversary Miss B! We'll celebrate our 14th on September 23rd. :D

I better forget about that DVC add on, I've got two daughters who are fast becoming huge Disney fans. It would mean another trip for us all though.

Eloping IS good. I never regretted it. :D I've always said that promising to spend the rest of my life with someone was enough for one day. I didn't need to be hosting a party for a couple hundred people on top of it.

Anniversary #13 is just around the corner. So far, it's working.

I guess I'm about the only guy who wouldn't be thrilled to elope.

I could never afford one of those huge Disney wedding extraveganzas, but I have always thought that if I found a woman crazy enough to commit herself to me (sort of like comitting yourself to an insane asylum), I'd not only want to shout it from the rooftops (think of the diamond commercial with the guy screaming "I LOVE THIS WOMAN!" to all of Venice), but I'd want to throw a big, fancy wedding with all of my family and hers together.

If money were no object, I'd put together a Disney World wedding myself. With my own experience as a guide, and with all the Disney experts I can call upon for great ideas here, my own Disney wedding would blow anything Disney and Franck's could put together right out of the water.

I'd start by hiring Martin Short to appear at the wedding as Franck.

Armani doesn't make a blue tux-ado.

Armani also don't make polyester.

:tink: And here I am worrying about the cost of a dress to wear to my son's wedding! :tink:

I didn't realize how expensive the weddings are, but they do sound wonderful though. I could just see my girls stepping out of Cinderella's carriage walking up the aisle, but then I see a big hole where my bank account would be, (that's where they fall into)LOL. It would be great, but with three girls, I don't think it's realistic!!!! That is, unless they truly do marry a prince! :fairylove:

I had no idea there were so many September Anniversaries. Our 14th anniversary will be on September 16th. No Disney trip for us :( but instead we get all new windows, new roof, and new siding. :)

Even though we only have boys we were expecting to pay for half of their wedding anyways, or at least help with a chunk of it. Hey, maybe we can pay for their honeymoon at Disney instead of the wedding there.

Happy Anniversary to everyone!

Speaking from experience... WDW weddings can be sooooooo expensive!! But the memories that you have for the rest of your life are worth EVERY PENNY!!! (even though mine is ending in divorce... LOL)

Disney will put together your dream wedding ... of course for a very hefty fee

We were at Epcot sat nite and once again there was a wedding reception in Italy. I never remember what that little area on the water is called. It looked quite lovely and romantic but I wonder, how distracting from the actual wedding is all the Disney attractions? And I'm probably the only scrooge here, but how many of these expensive weddings are being paid for over the next upmteen years? I've heard so many friends talk about financing their kids weddings and I think it's just crazy. A small wedding and a nice reception can be done so tastfully w/o bankrupting both familes. We just returned a week ago from my nephew's wedding. It was tasteful, beautiful, and good food all done within a tight budget. How did this all get soooo out of hand? It certainly has no bearing on the couples lifelong happiness together. Ok, I've vented my feelings on this topic...LOL...

This was definitely something we looked into. The pavillion is absolutely gorgeous and of course it's Disney - what more could we want?

Unfortunately, after calling Disney and getting all the info in the mail we knew we just couldn't afford it :( The intimate weddings were approximately $5,000 with a 10 person limit (including bride and groom). If you have more than 10 people you are required to go with their larger package which states you must spend a minimum of $20,000 :? :x  on food, flowers, photography AND you have to guarantee a certain number of rooms depending on the number of guests etc. There are 13 people in our immediate family - we would have been required to spend the $20 grand regardless.... Disney said no can do the extra 3 for an intimate wedding, no exceptions, no no no!!!! grrrr :hppmad:

Soooo we decided to compromise - We got married September 5, 1999 in CT and went to Disney for our honeymoon (which, by the way closed for the first time ever for a hurricane)!!!
