but had a great trip.

I'm exhausted. I will probably sleep for another week.

My face is pretty red from all the sun. I look like I'm outraged at something.

Spent almost the whole fund. I was hoping to come back under budget to have a few extra bucks for my MouseFest fund, but I came back almost exactly on my budget.

Still typing up my notes, but a few quick impressions:

* Castle decorations - Home Run! I love them.

* Biometrics for everybody - foulest foul ball ever to smack the WDW-going public in the teeth. Slow, slower, slowest - and that was with only moderate crowds!

* Soarin' - 'nother Home Run! Beautiful scenery, gentle ride. Queue area bores you to tears - hopefully they'll add something pretty to it.

* Star Wars Weekends - Home Run, but very crowded. Great character photo ops!

* I saw Wishes (which I love more than life itself) from Fantasyland, a place I spend little time in, and nearly need hospitalization from twisting my neck around to see it. The show lights up Fantasyland like high noon, and some of the lower shells are so close that Disney actually installed water sprinklers on the roof of Philharmagic to douse the crowd during the show! I highly recommend this alternate viewpoint at least once.

* All-Star Music - Everything I remembered it to be. Beds far softer than Pop, food court far higher quality, and the CMs still have that smiling spark that gives your stay that little extra touch of Disney Magic.

* Mummy's Revenge - A good ride that doesn't nearly live up to it's hype.

* Universal Studios Annual Pass - best thing since sliced bread! From the card itself, which is a full-color photo ID (they take your pic right in the Vacation Services office) and laminated solid like a drivers license, to the wonderful 20% discount on most normal merchandise (excluding magazines and a few other things) IN THE PARKS, the Uni AP is far and away better than the Disney AP. And then there is the cost, a measly $183 compared to Disney's $433, and far more extensive dining discounts, and the Uni AP becomes a shining example of how an entertainment venue should be treating thier best and most loyal customers. Disney needs to pay close attention to this!

* Bathrooms - The last truly clean bathroom I saw in the WDW parks was in September 2002. During my 2003 and 2004 trips, I saw not one clean bathroom, and most were disgusting. A far cry this was from the days when every Disney bathroom was so clean you could perform surgery in them. This time, however, the pendulum has begun to swing back; while there were still dirty bathrooms, and a few awful ones, most of the bathrtooms were reasonably clean and neat, showing marked improvement over just 6 months ago when I last visited.

* Attitude - Is it because Eisner is leaving? I dunno, but something is bringing the smiles back to the faces of WDW Cast Members. I saw more happy, shining faces on the CMs this trip than I have in over 3 years.

* Heat - Orlando is always warmer than my native Baltimore, but this week was hot even by Orlando standards, with temps in the low 90s through most of the week. I think I lost 5 pounds just from sweating! SO be warned - take those water bottles with you and DRINK! And once in a while drink a Powerade to replace the sodium, electrolytes, and other chemicals that the human body loses through sweating.

Full trip notes will be up on my web site in a few days, with a trip report to follow... sometime.

Welcome back Will.

Better to be just a shade under budget than over.

I'm curious as to exactly where you stood for Wishes...my guess is somewhere around the carrousel.

Imagine the FUN in the summer with the biometrics with the crowds.

Looking forward to your trip report...so we'll see it by Sunday Noon erh? :P

Welcome back Will! Sounds like a good trip, and I'm looking forward to your trip report. NOT looking forward to everyone using Bio-metrics this summer, so being first in line in the morning just got even more important! ;)

* Mummy's Revenge - A good ride that doesn't nearly live up to it's hype

Hmmm what's that? Now I've been to Disney several times and I've never heard of this? Is it new since Nov '04??
I leave tomorrow so I'll have to check this out.

You mentioned the heat~ I didn't want to read that part. I'm not looking forward to the heat!! Ekkkkk! Big sigh!

Well, Welcome home! We leave in the morning... I hope to see a lot of smiling CM and shall I hope for clean bathrooms? I was there right after 9/11 and the bathrooms were a mess but when I mentioned that on a board, I was blasted! :x

The Mummy's Revenge is at Universal Studios Florida. It's a thrill ride that's half coaster, half slow-moving. It's not bad at all, and the technology is quite impressive, but it didn't live up to the hype with me.

Each ride car is about half the size of a Tower of Terror elevator, and holds 16 people with individual lap bars. It has scary slow parts, and wild ride parts, some very impressive ride and effects technology, and a very fun queue area with interactive stuff here and there along the way. I liked it, I just didn't think it was as good as it's been hyped to be in the year since it opened, which was May 20, 2004 (I rode it on May 23, 2005).

Ohhhh! Ok, I didn't think I could have missed this at Disney! I guess I was having a blonde moment :P

sounds cool, though. Hubby refuses to go to the 'other' park~ once he is on Disney grounds he will not leave. We haven't been to Sea World in 9 years. I would like to go there and the 'other' park but hubby won't budge.

 I just looked down at my timer and it's 18 hours and I haven't even packed yet! I really must get doing it!

Yeah - get rid of it.

Biometrics are the finger scanners attached to the turnstiles. They are now needed for all Magic Your Way passes as well as Annual Passes, and since nobody knows how to use them, the average time for a person to get through the turnstiles has gone up from about 15 seconds to about 60 seconds. S - L - O - W.

I loved watching Wishes from Fantasyland. When I was there, I stood right next to the rope they use to close off the area directly behind the buildings they fire the 'Wishes' burst off of. Sure enough, one burning 'chunk' came down just in side the ropes on the other side from where we were standing. :o The CM we were chatting with, remarked 'that's why they rope off the area'. The also hose down (sprinklers?) the roofs of the buildings to be sure there are no burning ambers still up there.

If you've seen the full fireworks from in front of the castle, I highly recommend catching it from Fantasyland. You wouldn't get the 'full effect' but if you love fireworks, you will be so close to both the ones fired of the buildings and the high ones that come from behind the berm. Of course it's good to have memorized the show, so you know when to turn around.

ETA: The 'triangle' roped off is from Mickey's Philharmagic to the Carousel to Snow White's Scary Adventures. I stood by Snow White.

We saw Wishes from MainStreet in front of Cinderella's Castle in August. We thought this was a very good viewpoint, and saw most bursts. I think a different perspective may be in order next time, like Narcoussi's.

Glad you had a good time Will. I look forward to your TR.

Welcome back Will!

Biometrics sucks, when I worked at the Zoo here in Indy, they considered buying that option from Omniticket (The peeps who made Disney's admission system), but it was too expensive.

In the end they gave up the turnstiles all together.

Will, I LOVE that view! The Dad and I stood by the Carousel and saw this very unique point of view last year. While it's true we did have to do the "tennis match" head-bobbing thing, it was worth it to see those white hot fireworks stream up into the air...practically past our heads. They seemed to launch so close to us that I actually did a visual "re-check" to make sure I hadn't wheeled the Dad to the wrong side of the rope. Hmmmm. Wheeling the Dad the WRONG side of the rope. Now that has possibilities.

Oh, where was I? Ah yes, while I recommend seeing Wishes from in front of the Castle first, I think the Fantasyland view is one that shouldn't be missed, either.

Thanks for all the great info, Will. Sounds like you had a great time.
