View Full Version : Questions for Next Summer

We are planning our first trip to Disneyland for next summer and would like some advice. We are debating between the end of June and the end of August. Now, I know if we had this debate over Disneyworld, we would choose the end of August for the lower crowds. So, does anyone know when the crowds would be lower? We are planning on going for 3 days during the week (e.g. Tue-Thur). Any thoughts as to whether this would be enough time to tour both parks? Thanks in advance.
While I can't address when the crowds will be lower, I think I can address the second part of your question. We went to DL for 3 days last March. We were staying on-site, so did not have parking and stuff to mess with. We found that we had more than enough time to see everything we wanted to get to in those 3 days. We spent 1 day at Disneyland, 1 day at California Adventure, and then used the 3rd day to pick up any odds and ends we missed with the first visit. We also spent an afternoon going through Downtown Disney.

I have gone twice now at the end of June and its a great time. The weather has been great, and the crowds not too bad. They get worse about July 3rd both times.
The first time i went June 25 through July 4th, 2001. This was pre 9-11 and we never encountered any crowds what so ever until about the 2nd of July then it was light. We was blocked out on the Saturday of our stay as we had annual passes that trip. It was much worse after July 3rd and we left the morning of July 4th but I can say I witnessed a lot of people going across the street at 9am in the morning. We also did Magic Mountain, Universal and Knotts Berry farm that trip.
The next time I went end of June was this year. We went June 30 through July 4th to Disney. We also went to Universal the weekend before. I can say it was not crowded what so ever at 8am when the park pened. We did usually about 4 to 5 big rides. Then about 11ish we jumped over to Califronia Adventure to do a few big rides early on each day (That park dioesnt open until 10am) By about 1ish we wanted lunch so we went back to our hotel to eat and swim. It was extreemly crowded, more than I remmebr from 2001 by mid day. In the afternoon/early evening we went back to the parks to catch a few rides and mainly the shows. I found that by day 4 we had seen and done everything we wanted so July 4th we entered the parks, got a souvineer pin and we decided it was so crowded we left for home a day early. We checked out of the hotel and made our drive back to Seattle area. (19 hour drive!!)
We did go downtown disney a few times too. We did it one evening and one afternoon and one more morning stop.
I think going anytime on a Tue through Thur you will find it less crowded.
I dont know what August weather is like but end of June was beautiful both times. It was mid 70's the weekend and by time we left in the 90's on the 4th. We had no rain what so ever. We stayed across the street at Best Western Park Place inn. It was a nice place and walking distance so we controlled our own coming and going times.

Hi there!
If you can wait about 3 weeks I can let you know for sure. The last time I went to DL it was a day trip only in June and it was pretty darn crowded - more crowded than most of my WDW experiences. I am going to DL on the 26 - 30 of August hoping the crowds will be lighter. I'll be sure to report back to you.
