Okay folks,
You guys seem to know your stuff :) Ican sure use some of that technical knowledge. I want to get rid of those pesky popup ads that come onto the computer, whenever I am online, (which is pretty much always since I have a cable modem) in a window labled "Messenger Service".

Do you guys have any recommendation for programs that will block all of this crap without bogging down my computer?

I have Windows XP, on a Dell computer. Any help at all would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, guys!

If you're referring to the ones that advertise some service to block the messenger service, I get those too. The ironic thing is I only get these messages from the companies who claim they can stop them forever. So I'd be paying them not to send me their pop up ad. I hope someone has an answer to this one.

That's exactly what i am referring to. I want to stop these guys without having to pay them to stop sending them to me. I suspect that their "blockers" only work on their own messages. I do hope there is something reliable out there that can do the job.

Try reading here:

Messenger Service" Popup Windows (http://www.helpdesk.bham.ac.uk/support/popups.htm)

It explains what they are and how to get rid of them.
