Part Two of Our Mother/Daughter Trip 2003
Tuesday: Slept in, swam and went to Downtown Disney. We had a delicious lunch at Rainforest Café. More rain today. And Emily’s front tooth finally came out with a gentle pull, so the tooth fairy had to make a visit that evening. :tink:
Wednesday: (The tooth fairy left 2 Disney dollars for each of the girls. Rilee got an advance payment for her wiggly tooth. They were very excited since they had never seen Disney Dollars before.) Extra Magic Hour at Epcot. We waited 50 minutes for the bus! We were NOT happy! We got to into Epcot at 8:20 am. We went to Test Track first but the line was very very long, so we got fast passes and went over to Ellen’s Energy Adventure. Then to Journey Into Your Imagination with Figment (a big hit with the girls). Time for Test Track with fast passes, but we still waited about 20 minutes. After lunch at Lotus Blossom (the Chinese counter service), we made our way around the World Showcase. The girls decorated the masks and got all of the stamps from the countries. They actually enjoyed seeing the movies and looking in the shops in the countries this time. I guess seven years old is the magic age for world showcase. We watched Illuminations from the edge of the bridge near the International Gateway. Unfortunately, there was a rather tall Magnolia tree in the way. The show was still good, but we decided to come back again on Friday to find a different spot.
Thursday: Animal Kingdom 9am opening: ( Before our trip, Emily had made a card on the computer for Lilo and Stitch. Her note on the card said that they were her favorite characters and told of her favorite scenes in the movie etc.) Lilo and Stitch were in Animal Kingdom near the Island Mercantile store. She gave them the card and they were just wonderful. They gave her lots of hugs and attention. And I got some really great pictures. Next we rode Primeval Whirl 3 times in a row with very little wait. Then to Kali River Rapids. We got fast passes and got on the ride with only a short wait. This time we decided to use the ponchos. We got right back in line for a second ride. Then it was Fast Pass time. The line was getting longer so the fast pass was perfect. This time the poncho only helped to keep my bottom dry. There was this huge splash and the water poured down the neck opening on my poncho. Everyone in our boat was drenched. I was still drier than I had been on Monday. It was a blast! Lunch today at Flame Tree Barbeque. Then we went to MK. We rode Big Thunder Mountain Railroad first. Got a fast pass to come back later for another ride. Goofy’s Country Jamboree was a disappointment. The kids couldn’t see anything over the adults. And we were in the front when it started. It need’s some revising. We also rode Pirates of the Caribbean, Aladdin’s Flying Carpet, Jungle Cruise, watched the Hall of Presidents show, and some other rides I can’t remember. Ate dinner at Columbia Harbour House. And then watched Spectromagic in Frontierland. We had a good viewing spot. After the parade we watched the fireworks on the bridge in front of Crystal Palace. It was a clear view, but the fireworks appear to be on the left side of the castle. We relaxed on a bench and watched the castle change colors while the crowds thinned out.
Stay tuned for part three to follow. :D
