I want to use one of my own photos as my avatar but I don't know how to resize them. I know they're way bigger than what is allowed. I tried going into Paint to do it but I just can't figure it out. It's not that I don't like the photo I borrowed from Robin (she's very sensitive you know).
I'd just like to try using my own.

In Paint, select Images and then Stretch/Skew. You will see horizontal and vertical percentages. Just reduce those until your pic size is within limits. To find if it is, select Images/Attributes and it will give you a new pixel reading. Don't overwrite the original image by saving the reduced as the same name. Do a Save As under a different name like "EpcotBillHandsome2." That way you won't lose the original EpcotBillHandsome and can have it for a different application. Good luck!

The image must be saved as a doc first and then you can go into Paint with it under the edit button below the jpeg. Did you know you can reduce the Horiizontal more than the Vertical and therefore make yourself taller and thinner? It made my feet longer, too, but what the hey.

Geez, I didn't think this would be rocket science. I'll give it a try though. Thanks Moley, and hey, how do you know the titles I use for my pics. :D

Hey bill - I think you should be able to resize your photos right IN the Site Linked Photos gallery here on the site. :)
Upload your image and it will automatically be resized to a max of 640 pixels (width or height). Then, you can click on the resize option to resize the image to whatever size you like! Very cool, and no Paint required!

OK, I finally managed to upload a pic to the Site Linked Gallery. I resized it, no prob. Now I'm trying to figure if and how I can use it as my avatar. HELP! Thanks.

After your image is resized on site, right click and select "properties". Highlight the url of the properties and copy it. Go to Profile, go to the bottom of the page where you have an option on avatars for URL. Paste it there. You should be set. :)

Thanks Moley, I think it worked. Tell me if it's too wide. I mean the avatar of course.

Looks great. It is 150 pixels wide which is well within acceptable in order not to skew the frames on a page. So, no, that avatar does NOT make your butt look big. :peri:

Yeah, it only took me about 5 months to get around to it.
I took that picture in February, shortly after my cell phone crapped out on me. :?
