Wake up around 8:30, got all packed up and ready, drove over to Boardwalk...I got out and got breakfast from the Boardwalk Bakery(cheese danish for me--geesh, I'm embarrassed to even say what I'm eating at this point; croissant and apple juice for Ben, chocolate donut for Brent)
Then we drove over to OKW to check in--they were very nice. Our room wasn't ready yet, so we headed over to Kennedy Space Center--about a 30 minutes drive. This place was crowded! We did the Maximum Access, which was $33 per adult and $23 per child. We did the bus tour, the IMAX "Inside the Space Station" movie and ate at the Orbit Center. This place had food like WDW did a few years back--too expensive and not very good. I think the food was more expensive than WDW--2 dbl cheese burgers, an order of fries and 3 drinks was $28. Oh, well.
We walked through the space shuttle and went into the space shop. Ben had a minor meltdown at this point--but seeing as it was the first one of the trip and we were way past naptime it wasn't too bad. Once we got to the van he was asleep before we got out of the parking lot. We stopped by the Astronauts Hall of Fame--I talked Brent into going on in--he wasn't going to wake Ben up but I talked him into going on in and letting me sit in the car with Ben and read Harry Potter. He said the Hall of Fame was good--but he felt bad because we were in the car so didn't stay too long.
We called and got our room # at Old Key West (2720). Drove back to the hotel, stopping at EXXON for drinks and snacks. Got to room--really felt "home". Rested, unpacked, and went to Downtown Disney by Trumbo Ferry. This was a very nice boat ride that we really enjoyed! It was a nice break from the busses, and felt very personal(they were pontoon boats, so only 12 people could ride at a time)
We walked around DD--tried to eat at Wolfgang Puck--but it was too crowded. We went into Virgin Bookstore, Brent bought a couple of books and we came back to the hotel after a quick stop at the Candy Cauldron for some goodies. On the way in, we stopped by Olivias for supper. Brent and I split the Shrimp Alfredo, Ben had chicken fingers and fries. It was very good. Then it was back to the room and to bed!!
