Hey Gang,
2004 was pretty special to a lot of us for the simple fact that many of us got to either meet for the first time or meet again "for the first time."
I think it only enforces the need for all of us to post potential trips in the trip calendar. Sometimes knowing who is going at a certain time of year can influence your own plans.
So post your 2005 trip dates when you know them.

It'll be an extremely on a shoestring sort of trip, if I can find a budget for it, BUT Nov 30- Dec 4th I'm going to take a shot at making a goal for.

Andy,
You guys are all good at dares...I dare you to make it the cheapest trip ever! You can do it, I know you can!

I'm hoping to make it Nov 30 - Dec 4th as well..a budget trip for me, but I'd rather it be budget than not at all - esp in order to make Mousefest again!! I'd pull out all the stops for that one! ;)

We plan on being there for MF 2005. Booked POFQ already for November 30th to December 10th, almost a whole year to save my pennies.

We are going for Sept 24 to Oct 2nd. AND I'm going Nov 30th! They can stay home. DH goes hunting that time every year so it will be my "hunting" trip with my friends. :)

Just to make things clear for my poor fuzzy mind, MF 2005 meeets will be Nov. 30 - Dec. 4? I made DH promise to take me this year so I don't want to make a mistake.

Hi, Sandy!
On the Mousefest 2005 site it says the land portion will be 11/30 - 12/3, but I'm hoping some Taginators might be there until the 4th  Looks like Carol will be there past the 3rd! :minnie:

My tentative Mousefest 2005 dates are November 29th to December 6th.
Tagrel
01-03-2005, 12:56 PM
Yes, the 'land' portion of MouseFest is officially from Wed, Nov 30th - Sat, Dec 3rd.
Which poses a problem for my attendance.... My youngest's birthday is on December 2nd - and I can't miss THAT! So, I've been a bit bummed I'd miss MouseFest 2005... :(
BUT... (gotta love big but's... )
After talking it over with the mrs (and actually an AMAZINGLY small amount of armtwisting!) the current plan is that the entire Tagrel clan will make it to MouseFest 2005!! Yea!!!! DW will have to take off a few days without pay to do it, and we'll have to pull the girls from school, but it will be GREAT to have the family there and Maddy gets to spend her Birthday in WDW! Very Cool! :)
I'll have to cut back on my meet attendance a bit, but I'll do my best to work as many in as I can! :mrgreenSanta:
So - I can now add our names to the MouseFest 2005 list of attendees! We plan on being there 12/1 - 12/5.

What great news, Dave!! This is fabulous...a birthday at WDW, what could be better! I'm so happy for Maddy!! :fairymagic:
And happy for the rest of we Taginators to know you'll be able to attned some of the Mousefest meets :mickeyXmas:
Gee, this is cause for celebration!

Well, boys and girls. After saying I would not be able to make Mousefest 2005 due to it being so close to Christmas (and since we are still paying for DW trip in Dec. 2003 - and now 2004), I will now try to work on attending Mousefest 2005. OUr AP's expire I think on 12/3 so we can get AP rates for arriving before then and maybe leaving on 12/3. That way we can be back in PA for Christmas activities here and not be so rushed as we were this year - got back only a week before Christmas and there was so much to do in so little time.
I had such a fantastic time meeting so many more of you this year then in 2003 that I'd LOVE to go back.
ONE SUGGESTION EVERYONE: There were just so many meets in such a short amount of time and so many scheduled for the same days and times that it was very disappointing to miss so many due to me not being able to move fast enough to hit that many parks in one day.
COULD I SUGGEST: Have only one meet at any scheduled time so those of us old people can get ourselves from one meet to another without needing oxygen. I was so disappointed in missing so many friends I wanted to see again but I was in a totally different park at the time.
Maybe more BIG group meets and less individual meets so we can all have time to talk and get to know each other better??? I didn't know until the Trip Reports how many friends were at MVMCP the same night that I missed seeing entirely!!! Just a suggestion.

Oh, Claire, I am sooo happy to read this (I had a feeling after reading all the MF 2005 posts you'd just have to join us!). I was going to email you tomorrow suggesting maybe you could go for a shorter stay rather than a whole week, like some of us. I'm so happy I could just
I love your suggestion of larger meets with more time so we can have time to get to know one another. Sounds perfect! And then a few smaller meets to fill in the gaps ;)
Also, I agree it was too close to Christmas this yr - I still feel I never caught up, just got the tree up and now it's time to take everything down. Next yrs dates are much better. By the way, there is a survey for MF 2004 on Deb's site and it asks that very question about time of yr and 1st, 2nd week in December. Here's the link: http://allearsnet.com/ On the left side of the page it asks if you attended MF 2004 and to please take the survey.
Oh, this is just the best!!! :minnie:
'Night!! dreaming of MF 2005
Christine
An AP question - can you still use your ap's as long as you begin using them before 12/3 and expire at the end of that stay or would they actually expire on the 3rd?
Tagrel
01-03-2005, 09:44 PM
I know how you feel about missing meets Claire - I missed several myself. But the fact is that we had LOTS of meets so that if people could not make ONE, they could try to make the next one. And as to meets being scheduled at the same time - none of the Tagrel.com meets were at the same time except the Segway tour, which really could not be helped. (I was Bummed to miss Buzz!) If we don't have meets at the same time as ANY other MouseFest group, we won't have time for any! OH, and this year we also had several 'personal' meets - I don't have any control over those! If people want to have a personal meet, that is completely up to them!
I think 2004 turned out fantastic! We had excellent attendance at ALL the meets. Just remember - you don't have to come to all of them if its too much! This year I KNOW I'll miss several because the family will be with me. I'm certainly not going to tell others NOT to have meets just because I can't make it!!! I'll just have to be happy to read the reports and see the pictures!
Its very difficult to know exactly when lots of people can attend. So we post the meets by the end of summer and give people around 3 months to decide which meets they can fit into their schedule. It seemed to work mighty well this year, judging by the number of attendees we had! :mrgreenSanta:
One thing I know - I'm not doing so many meets at MVMCP next year! I didn't get to ride much at all!
Figgy
01-03-2005, 09:53 PM
I'm sure Dick and I will be going to DW on a lot of spur of the moment trips, but one thing is for sure, we'll be at the Mousefest week, from Nov. 30-Dec. 4th. Next time, I hope to make it on my own two legs, but admit seeing things at a lower level from a wheel; chair was a new experience. Did you know that at least 90% of the "guests" wear brand new shoes?
Dick also wants to go up for Christmas next year. That I'm not so sure about. He said we wouldn't even have to leave the campground Christmas Day, as they have a lots of festivities going on right there.
Have to get my ressies in soon. Hugs, Figgy

I'm so glad Tag and Cinderella that you'll both be able to make it!
I've been torn between a meet in October and MF in December...well, you guys are just making my decision....harder!
I didn't notice how many meets you guys had at MVMCP but my suggestion would be no more than two. One at the beginning, right after dinner so folks can hook up, then break off into smaller groups for riding, then again for the fireworks (everyone stops to watch them!) and then giving everyone a second chance to break off into smaller groups again for more riding/show seeing/parade watching.

I asked the same question when I was at Disney, the answer is. If you activated your pass on Dec. 3rd 2004 it is good until the of the day Dec. 3rd 2005.

I was thinking the same thing - it would be fun to stay at the same Resort as the majority of folks - if there is such as thing! Hope everyone will begin to post where they hope tos tay once they figure it out!
I'll be happy no matter how many meets and will enjoy the options :) Few or lots, it'll be wonderful!
Sophie and Alec (my Godchildren) might have to go to France for the summer and if they do, then my next trip to the World will not be until MF 2005 - so far away! Worth the wait if that's how it turns out. :mickeyXmas:

I understand Dave. I was so happy to know so many "old" and "new" friends would be at MVMCP that I tried to get to them all and still missed some and like you, I hardly got to ride many attractions either. I was having fun just grabbing people and hugging them (not strangers, mind you, Taginators!!!). I am very happy I got to see as many Taginators as we did though and I have lots of pictures to remember Mousefest 2004 with. I also planned to attend the MegaMousemeet but when my son surprised us by driving from Louisiana to DW to see us, I HAD to take the day and spend it totally with him (hadn't seen him in three years!!). At least we do manage to get some mini-meets in outside of DW so that's a good thing (and it's not as crazy or as expensive).
I'm hoping I can set up a Gettysburg/Boyd's Bear Meet this spring/summer as it would be inexpensive. The group can meet at Boyd's Bear Factory and can either bring their lunch to save some money or eat in their lunchroom (bakery/restaurant/ice-cream parlor/sit down all you can eat restaurant!). Then they can explore the three floors of the HUGE factory and later if they stay overnight, they have time to tour Gettysburg (also freebie) and would just have to pay for a room and meal.
I'll work on it!!
I am now working on convincing DH that we HAVE to be at Mousefest 2005 but if not, we will be at DW in the Fall to get our monies worth out of our AP's.

Well, the Tagrel family will most likely be staying at the VWL this year, since that is where I JUST made reservations for today! :) Gotta use those DVC points, and we DO love the WL!
BaciBecky
01-05-2005, 09:07 AM
Yeah for you, Tag! Hey, and I'm doing my DVC potential future owner homework studying everyday!! I was so glad to read it takes months to get it together (or in my case understand it all). ;)
WL does seems perfect for a December stay...not my fav decor, but it was incredible in December!! I've been leaning in that direction too...hmm...maybe I'd better make a reservation - that place was very popular last yr and I could not get in!! ;)
Sounds like another great MF in the works! 'Course, all I do is sit back and read...then enjoy...is there a way to help or get involved? Volunteer or whatever? I came in so late last yr that I've no idea how it actually all comes together.
Am I really already planning for next December??

I loved every meet I went to and can hardly wait till MF 2005! I will probably go the 29th to the 4th. My November trip is up in the air now too So I may have a lot of banked and borrowed points to use up. So should anyone want to try to get a Grand Villa for a Meet I would contribute some points too.
Tagrel
01-05-2005, 10:05 PM
Great SusanL! Renting a Grand Villa for a night would be VERY cool. My problem is that all my points are at BCV and VWL - NO GV's! :( They sleep up to 12, so if enough people got together to rent one for that one night, it could be very cool! A big old Pajama Party! ;) Or we could rent points for that one night, and people chip in to pay for the room... (usually around $10 per point) Now is the time to decide! Booking for Dec 4, 2005 started today!
BWV - 74 pts
SRR - 67 pts
OKW - 36 pts
OKW is DEFINITELY the most affordable location! But all the BWV GV's are overlooking the boardwalk, and I speak from experience when I say that a get together there is just INCREDIBLE! $740 worth of points though! Yowch!
thoughts?

:mickeyXmas: Mousefest 2005 is a must-do, of course! I'm planning on Nov 29-Dec 4 then off on the cruise.
I love the idea of a meet using one of the grand villas. I'm not a DVC member so I have no points to donate, but if "cold hard cash" will do, just let me know!
My other definite trips this year are:
April 27-30 before sailing on the April 30 Eastern on the Magic
May 13-15 for a "Pal Mickey Reunion"
I'm also going to try to sneak in either a cruise or a trip to Disneyland with one of my sisters, but that's way, way, up in the air right now.

Hi,
I haven't made any plans for MF 2005. Two Thousand Four was just too phenomenal for me. I exhausted myself trying to make every Taginator meet last year, to the point that on December 12, a man riding a bike remarked to his family at Beach Club that I was drunk.
I will speak to my girlfriend Mary Jane about making the trip, keeping in mind WDWDen's warning to me in the Space Mountain queue on December 12, not to bring her. She seems open to it but right now is at home with a bad cold that she says I gave her. Maybe I can make a male version of "How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days" LOL.
Either way I want to see if I can stay in a Deluxe resort this time. I'm aiming for Wilderness Lodge but frankly believe that any resort will do. I'll keep you posted.

For all those of you girls considering it, believe me when I tell you that going with girlfriends is a fabulous plan!! I can't tell you how much fun it was to hang out with the girls, stay out late at night and sleep in in the morning. And did I mention the day we all spent getting massages and hanging at the pool???
I'm gonna feel real tied down the next time I go with DH and the kids! :)
Oh... and yes, I'm gonna try my hardest to go again for 2005. Even though it's my weekend to work this year and I'll have to take vacation time!

Seeing that my son decided to stay in Orlando I have no choice to head off to the sunshine state a few time within the next year. I'm hoping for a quick trip in April with no definite date set because I have only myself to worry about so when southwest has a good deal I'll fly. I would love to make it down there for the mouse fest but seeing that I have the two weeks after christmas off I will wait to see if my son comes home for the holidays or I will go down there. My son has his own apartment now with no roommates so I'll get free accomadations and I'll only have to spend a day cleaning it .

My 2005 plans are a bit more solid.
Looks like the first trip for 2005 will be in May, possibly to cover the DL 50th anniversary festivities...not sure the exact dates...probably a quickie 5-day solo trip.
Carol and I will return in late June and be there for July 4th...probably at least 10 days.
I am thinking about coordinating a trip for just me, my sister, and my cousins...no spouses...for October...about 7 days.
Of course there's Mousefest....5 to 7 days...not sure if solo or not.
I guess that's more than enough to satisfy the Disney fix for this year.

Well Mike I'll post my trips when I know when they are, but the fact is I usually don't know. I sometimes have a vague idea but until pretty close I don't know exactly.
I do know I'll be there over Christmas though and probably stay right through until the maraton. But even then I don't know how much time will be spent in Orlando.

Looks like we are still locked in from December 8 to the 14th. With us canceling April we are trying to see if we can stay a little longer.

That would be great mickeefan - maybe you could go a little earlier and catch some of the MouseFest people near the end of their trips!

Well, latest plans are to hit DW in October (early) for about 6-7 days just to use up our AP's and get our money's worth. We are still in debt from going to Mousefest in 2003 and 2004 and I can't see adding to my Visa card which is at it's limit!!! Will change from WL to POFQ and make one stop going down via car. No souvenirs like last Dec. - we bought EVERYTHING!!
Will try to eat light dinners and bigger lunches and go to more walk-up restaurants. Bringing digital camera (hoping I'll actually learn how to use it and download pics to computer before then).
So, waiting for word on pricing for POFQ from Tink1 and will make it final then. I REALLY would rather go for Mousefest to but AP's expire 2nd or 3rd of Dec. and I want to be sure to get as many days out of it as possible and pay less for the resort.
Anyone else going in October or will we be by ourselves and very lonely??

Hi Claire,
I'm planning on taking my cousin to WDW (her first visit) sometime during early October. right now I think it may be either Tuesday to Tuesday (10/4-10/11) or Thursday to Thursday (10/6-10/13). Carol may be able to steal way for about four of those days too.
We should plan on doing MNSSHP :pumpkinCat: together.

Hi Mike:
When is Mickey's Halloween party held? Never been to it before. I'm hoping to get down around the 2nd of Oct. to maybe the 8th. Is it all during Oct. or just certain days? Would be fun!!!

Tickets aren't on sale yet but here's the 2005 schedule. Also, this year, if you buy your ticket at the gate on the party night AP holders save 25%. (be careful some parties sell out)

Hey Sue! We will be in WDW at the same time celebrating Mik's 7th birthday on Aug 15th! We will likely be at WL starting on the 13th, though I haven't made any ressies as of yet. We leave for the DCL cruise on the 18th. Maybe we can get together for Birthday ice cream at Beaches & Cream or something! :D

They you August travellers, We'll be there too! Belle - We check in at VWL on August the 13th, so we'll DEFINITELY have to make some plans to get together. I think the girls would have fun meeting each other as well! :) We're even heading over to the coast on the 18th too, but we're going down to Vero Beach... A cruise sounds WONDERFUL though! :captain:

Hmmm... now WHY do we go in mid to late August... OH YEAH, Now I remember!
LOL - sorry Pam, nothing personal, but all the schools that start back up in August make those last couple weeks just a BIT less crowded!

Mid to late August was always our fav time to go to Disney - for the same reason as Tag - less crowded because many kids are back in school. Never minded the heat - well, maybe we minded it but it never stopped us
I miss going then - now that I have no school age munchkins. But going during MF or for the Marathon will more than make up for missing August :)
Have agreat time every one! :minnie:

For anyone that is going to Mousefest and going alone, I would be willing to try and share a room somewhere. We could cut our expenses that way. Or if a couple would like a third to help with the room cost, maybe we could work out something.
We really aren't in the room that much anyway. Just a thought. Know there are many dates and meets involved also. We don't have to make all of them.
Sometimes I don't stay on property or even use my DVC points. There is a HoJo's that I stay at sometimes on I92 about 2 miles from MK and their rates are under $50.
If anyone is interested, just let me know and we'll see what can be worked out.

Yes, you all are allowed to laugh, roll your eyes, or shake your head in disbelief at my next post. What you're not allowed to do is make any calls to arrange therapy or an intervention on my behalf. :P
I've booked another quick trip to WDW. Turns out I do have the three days around my b-day (April 21) off from work, and I do have my AP, and I did get a very nice airfare to Orlando...so uh well...
I'm going to see Mickey for my birthday!!! :yahoo: Just a quick trip April 20-22 so I can celebrate my b-day as it should be AND I'll get to meet up with BaciBecky while I'm there as well!
