New fireworks show on the 7 nighter!!

We just did the 7 night Western cruise. We knew about the new Pirates deck party, but were surprised to find out that they were looking into having a fireworks show as well. It was the night we were in Cozumel that they did it. They told us that Disney Cruise Line is the only cruise line in the the world to have fireworks. During the Pirate deck party, they pulled the ship about 150' away from the dock and then launched the fireworks. I was expecting them to be smaller, but they were really big and seemed just like the ones at the parks. It was obviously much shorter, but still enjoyable. I just wish they would have done it before all of the other ships left dock. It would been cool to show off the fireworks, just like they do with the horn! ;-)

Anyway, its not definite that they will keep it, b/c they are still testing at this point. Hopefully the higher ups will give the thumbs up and they can do it for every cruise. :lol:

Yep, they had them on St. Lucia night on the 10 day cruise. I agree that they were much bigger than I was expecting. I was figuring on Roman candles but these were real bona fide fireworks. Not as elaborate as MK's "Wishes" but about what you'd see in at your average municiple Fourth of July celebration.

Amy, they were shot from the back of the ship and off to the ride side (port?) if your facing front. I'm pretty sure they were shot from the roof of Palo's. In fact, I would bet on it.

It really was a nice touch!! :lol: I can't wait to do it again!

Thanks for the info on the fireworks. I better not think too long about fireworks exploding from the ship. I already had the craziest disaster dreams after I got back from the Mousefest cruise.

My crazy brain has been making up things like fiery NASCAR crashes onboard the ship and "Willy Wonka" elevators that burst through the ship's hull and into the water. The world just isn't ready for what my brain could do with fireworks onboard a ship!
