View Full Version : Ouch! My dues went up...

I know they've been doing some work on interior pipes at Boardwalk Villas, and I guess maybe the cost of renovating the old sales center is added in there too, but my dues went up more than I expected.
They were $77 per month this year, but have gone up to $103.84 for January and $84.54 for each remaining month this year. Since it is truly representative of the expenses, I guess they can go down for next year, right?

Alicia, I would love to be a DVC owner, so maybe you can mention a few of the perks and how great it is while we are down there for the marathon. Terry is not budging on this one with me, but if he heard from others, maybe it would at least put the idea in his head.

Sheryl, the absolute best way to convince him is for you guys to stay in a DVC unit during one of your trips. Don't just get a studio. They are nice, very nice, but IMO your appreciation will be better if you get a one bedroom unit. If that doesn't sell him...nothing will. He'll probably love the king size bed, jacuzzi tub, huge shower, full kitchen, washer and dryer, and the privacy this give everyone.
I'll definitely talk it up when we meet and I know John really loves DVC too, so that might help even more. Definitely consider renting some points and staying DVC during a trip soon. That'll do it!

Sheryl,
Definitely rent points for a one bedroom! After less than 24 hours in one, my husband said the fateful words "I think we should sell the boat and buy into the DVC."
See you soon!

Ouch! Those are some pretty steep rates. I guess that we will be finding out what the damage is pretty soon for our SSR dues. Hopefully not too high, though.
Those one bedrooms are so lovely! Though, Del and I are going to do our best NOT to stay in one for a while so that we don't get so spoiled and need to buy more points soon. ;)

Suzy, you have to try the 1 BR! Those are the units to die for.
Joe
Once you do one of the 1 bedrooms, its so hard going back to the studio. The washer & dryer alone as a huge perk, but the jacuzzi tub is a real blessing to aching feet. :D

Just got my dues statement and after all the dire warnings I have to say I'm pleasantly surprised. The grand total expense is only a hair under $43 more this year than last. Not that I really like the increase, it's just that I was scared after reading on this board and my mailing lists what others had to say. No one said exactly what the per-point increase was at the BW. After the plumbing upgrades and hurricane damage I think it easily could have been worse.
Ok, go ahead and flame me now for defending DVC.

Mine only went up a few dollars a month too. I was nervous but glad now.

Hmmmmm.... flaming Paul... Bwahahaha! Just kidding, buddy.
I agree with you that $43 a year isn't much considering all the work they did. This is just my first time to get a new dues statement. My original thought was what if this keeps going up year after year like this. But, I know that has not been the history, and don't expect it to happen. It can afterall only reflect the true expenses.
