Does anyone know if it's safe to leave a CD in your laptop drive while traveling?
I plan to sleep on the way out, but wouldn't mind bringing a DVD with me for the flight home. Instead of shelping another item, I was wonder if I could just leave it in the laptop, or if the jostling could damage the drive?

Does the CD drive in your laptop 'lock' the CD in place? Mine does, and while it might not have been on PURPOSE, I have left a CD in there while travelling and it did no harm... But I'm sure they don't SUGGEST doing this! ;)

Typical laptop drive where it 'snaps' into place. I figured it would be safe...just wanted another opinion. Glad to hear you've done it...and it survived.

Perfectly safe, I do it all the time.
My laptop is actually designed to play music CDs while the laptop is off and closed; pretty convenient.

Would you believe when I went to put the DVD in...I found I've forgotten a CD in the drive? http://cgrobin.com/images/smileys/more/Yalot.gif
