Surely, there is someone out there that can tell me how to make the gifs animated. My hubby and I have done everything we know to do. We've turned off the firewalls, enabled java stuff, clicked show animations in web pages.
This is a brand new computer and we should not be having a problem with this! Please help me!!!!

I didn't realize you had this problem. I remember you posting something, but I breezed right by it.
Try this if you are using Internet Explorer:
under the Tools menu select Internet Options...
a window pops up - click on the Advanced tab (far right)
scroll down to Multimedia section
find Enable Animations in Web Pages and make sure it is checked.
see if animated Gifs work now.
Let me know how it goes! :mickey:

We did that and it still doesn't work! I want to use the new smilies but I can't tell what they do. Even my favorite web site of smilies isn't working. And I used them not too long ago!
ARGHHHHH!

I will tell you though that the countdown clock works. It's just the gifs!

Very strange.
The countdown clock is java, not an animated gif, so that is the reason for that...
You are using Internet Explorer? What version?
And NO animated gifs work on ANY website? Do animations work in other programs? Graphics look OK in browser, they just aren't animated?
You don't have any other browsers installed, do you? To see if the GIFs work in those browsers? ...
I really like http://www.mozilla.org/

I have internet explorer 6.0
No other browsers installed
No animations play on any website
graphics look ok
I'm not understanding what this mozilla.org is... is it spyware?

Mozilla is a netscape based open source web browser that I really like. Its just another web browser.
Are you running any other software, like Zone Alarm or other software. I've read that some of the settings in these will 'protect' you to the point of breaking the things you want to work! (Anything that stops popups, etc?)
turn them all off and see if the problem goes away. Then turn them on one at a time and see what breaks what. THEN look for the settings in that product to turn on animated gifs! :D
Simple, right? ;)
Good Luck!

I am running Zone Alarm Pro
I've downloaded the Mozilla and am using it now
Some of the animations are working but not all of them.
More suggestions?
I'm going to try my favorite web smilie page and see if they work there

Ok, it looks like Zone Alarm and internet explorer are the problems.
Mozilla works , so I'll stick with that! Thanks for your help Tagrel. I knew I could count on you when I stomp my foot! LOL :notworthy:

It's happened again! The mozilla made the animations play for 2 days and now all the sudden, nada! They aren't playing on any site again. I think we may have a wierd quirk in our system. Anymore suggestions? A plug in, a patch anything? :hppmad:

I think a patch is in order... One of those slow release tranquilizers should do the trick...

I would guess it's Zone Alarm. When I put it on my computer earlier this year, I kept having problems with Internet Explorer locking up. Sometimes I just had to restart IE sometimes I had to keep rebooting computer. After talking to a friend of mine at work he suggested McAfee since I was running thier antivirus. I got the McAfee with thier firewall and haven't had a problem since. He said sometimes Zone Alarm clashes with IE and sometimes with antivirus programs.

I would have to agree with Pacha. Turn Zone Alarm off for a bit and see if the animations start working.
Good Luck

Funny thing, you aren't the first person to tell me that. :confused2: LOL
I have done all the things suggested and nada! I guess I'll just have to assume that the animations are moving! Who knows maybe the computer will get a mind of its own and decide to let me see them again.
