You know that little block over on the right that showed new messages as they were posted? I miss it.

You can still see it on the community home page. I make that my bookmarked page as I enter and then come into a maximized discussion forums for quicker posting.

Yeah - it was great to have it where you are posting, but if we can do little things to make the site faster, then YEAH! :)

I know Andy - and I'm sure you aren't alone. I really needed to speed things up and that little block actually does a search and several database calls each time it is displayed. If you are running the forum, it gets expensive reloading and searching for new posts EVERY time the forum screen is updated. When you have 10 users online at the same time doing 10 extra searches each screen update its even worse! So - I have to try to find a balance between convenience and efficency... And its not always an easy choice. :(

What I do now is enter on the community Home page. Then I have a second bookmark - On the front page of the forum at the top is a link: View posts since last visit (http://tagrel.com/forum/index.php?name=PNphpBB2&file=search&search_id=newposts). This works great to show you all the new posts since you last accessed the site - and its across all the forums so you don't have to go look inside each one! VERY convenient! :yes:
