Help! I can't log in! My password disappeared so I got a new one, but my name doesn't stay logged in. I also want to change my password ('cause I got some weird thing I'll never remember). What am I doing wrong?

Hi Flash.
What browser are you using? IE seems pretty good with this forum software. Netscape 4.7 has problems as does the AOL browser on occasion.
You will be able to change your password on the profile page. Once you get the logging in problems worked out.

Flash,
A few things-
1. Not being able to stay logged in happened to me when I first came onto the site. I was using an old Netscape browser, the 4.7 version. It is not very compatible with the phpBB software upon which this message board is based. I switched to IE and didn't have the problem again of having to log in after each post. That is really frustrating, isn't it?
2. On changing your password, I am a little confused on what you mean. Have you forgotten your password and can't get logged on? We can't retrieve your old passwords. They are unavailable to administrators, but you can reregister and we can restore your name of "Flash" to the new account.
3. If you just want to change the password, you will need access to the old one and then you can make the change in your profile area.
My own suggestion is that you need to download an IE browser for easier use of this message board. Then when you register and log in, be sure to check the box which indicates you wish to log on automatically when you visit. Hope that helps.

Actually Moley, while I can't 'look up' a password, I can reset it without someone creating a new account.
Flash, if you just want to change your password, you can do that in your profile (top of page).
If you forgot your password, just email me at tagrel@tagrel.com and I'll fix it up for you.
Thanks!

Part of my problem is that I am somewhat internet illiterate. I am using AOL (I know, it's always a problem). I never had any difficulties until my hard drive was "fixed" and erased all the cookies (I assume). When I came back to log in, my password was gone or I just couldn't remember it. I asked for a new password, which logs me in for short times. It won't, however, let me save changes in my profile (or I'm not doing something correct). Would it be easiest to just start over?

He probably did! Whenever two people are giving advice and one of them is Tagrel(and the other one is me), pick Tagrel's!

LOL, not me... :D I think your AOL Browser finally got 'unconfused'.
This has happened to others. I'd strongly suggest using Internet Explorer. Also, if you ever attend a chat, the AOL browser will NOT work correctly. People either can't post or get bounced right out of the chat room!
To use Internet Explorer, just minimize the AOL browser and open Internet explorer.

Here's the weird thing. My countdown is wrong. I just got back! I will be going again (woohoo) on August 4. Can you change it?
Thanks!

Hey Flash -- Looks like you got it handled with great advice
Now I have had that counter thingy go haywire and change everyone's counter to really weird times-- Check the date and time on your computer and make sure it is correct --

duh! I noticed that little mark, but I didn't get what it meant. Sheesh. You can leave the time the same. I don't know for sure when I'm leaving.

PS -- I still can't log in, even though it looks like I am. Am I doing something wrong?

Sounds like an AOL thing. As long as you use AOL it might be happening. If the system is using "Flash" then you ARE logged in. The browser is just confused.
Really, try Internet Explorer. :)
That and restarting your computer sometimes gets AOL to calm down.
I'll update your counter.
