On our most recent trip to WDW, a very pessimistic CM shared his thoughts on the renovation of our beloved POFQ (and POR). He seems to think that during the renovation, which may take about 2 years, these two resorts will be transformed into Disney Vacation Club properties. Seems to be a trend...

He also said that Pop Century has been ready to open last year, but with attendence being down, they don't need to open it.

I doubt they would make it into a vacation club - no kitchens. They would have to do too much renovations for that to work.

Also, Pop Century is opening in December.

I haven't seen this particular DVC rumor anywhere, but anything is possible. With OKW nearby and the new SSR being in the former Disney Institute I really don't see this happening - but you never know.

As to no kitchens, DVC would most likely tear them down as they did the townhouses that were in DI. But that does remind me of something I did read...

Seams Disney was polling DVC members and asking about other 'levels' of ownership... Super Deluxes that would be Super Pricey, and units that were more like a normal Moderate... If they wanted to turn an existing resort into a 'moderate' DVC property, then this might make sense...

If Disney has too many moderate rooms to keep full, then selling them as DVC units could really help. DVC resorts have the highest occupancy (by far) of any of the Disney resorts.

Hmmmm.... It will be interesting to hear how this turns out...

I sure hope they don't change POFQ too much. I personally liked the small feel of this resort, in comparison to some of the newer mega room resorts. POFQ had such a friendly feel to it.
