Computers are evil!!!! There's no two ways about it.

Here I am nice and comfortable getting online and checking email and coming here to relax and the #$%&*^# won't let me get into Tagrel's site.
I have dial up (yes I know, slow as molasses and getting worse by the second!) and I have an old version of Earthlink as it will not let me upgrade to a newer one (my computer is possessed and likes to see me crash and burn!!).

I have decided to go with comcast and see if this is a great improvement even though I CANNOT afford that added expense right now but it has to be better then this frustration.

I get online, click on Tagrel's site and after forever I get a message saying the site must be experiencing difficulties or that Internet Explorer cannot connect blah, blah, blah. The only way I can eventually get on is to shut down the whole computer and start up and try again.

Well, it's now 3:12 and I came down to the computer about 1:45 and JUST GOT ON!!! I shut down three times. None of the emails I received about posts added to "rooms" in Tagrel's site would come up and I couldn't log onto to Tagrel's site no matter how I tried.

Now, for no reason, it came up. Just to make me think I'm going crazy...........but I'm not...........really I'm not :banghead: :banghead: :crazy: :crazy: !!!!! :roll: :lol: :shock: :x :twisted: :evil: :x :nahnah: :hppmad: :devil: :hppmad: :hiding:

HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

P.S. IF ANYONE THINKS THERE'S NEWS ABOUT ANY MEET CHANGES ETC. AND YOU DON'T SEE POSTS FROM ME IN AWHILE, PLEASE JUST EMAIL ME ANYTHING YOU THINK I SHOULD KNOW IF THIS GOES ON AGAIN. DON'T PM AS I WON'T BE ABLE TO READ IT IF I CAN'T GET ONSITE TO KNOW I HAVE A PM. THANKS.

The site wasn't responding earlier, so it might not have been your computer. I tried the site's home page too (as oppose to the forum) and couldn't connect to it either.

An easy test to see if it's your computer is to see if can connect to another site. If that works, then it's probably just a temporary problem with the site.

I've been off and on the site all day, and haven't had any problems.... Wonder if there could be a larger internet wide problem dependant on location and what routes the various ISPs take. If a pathway is down, certain sites will not be accessible... Even though others are...

But Robin is right Cinderella - if you can get to other sites, then it most likely is NOT your computer. There is probably a site issue, or a network issue, and just give it some time and then try again later. I know its frustrating, but its the nature of the beast - and as you pointed out - its EVIL! :twisted:

Cinderella, I have been chatting with a friend who lives not far from you and her Internet connection is way slower and more awful than usual today. Perhaps the northeast internet needs a digital enema?

Yup - here in Saratoga County, Road Runner (Time warner high speed) has been awful! :( Today has been a lot better than Fri and Sat though :D Guess I should be thankful for small mercies! But having no internet is like losing my right hand - I am a fish outta water :shock: I don't know where my phone book is - and I'm not sure if I found it, I'd even remeber how to use the phone :wink: Thank God for e-mail :lol:

The aliens are behind all this (used to be the Russians). They put the idea of building a computer in someone's mind through mental telepathy just so that it would get built and everyone would buy one and we'd become dependent on them and once we were................BAM!!!! They screw up all the machines and have us go slowly out of our minds thus making it safe for them to quickly take over the entire solar system without a fight from us (since we are now sitting in front of our blank screens drooling and babbling and we're in no shape to defend ourselves).

Really, think about it................it's not that far fetched! :huh:

Become one with the computer? Talk to it??? I've tried being Ms Nice Gal and played music and stroked my computer but it turned on me anyhow. I'll become one with it when I use my big toe to boot it over the roof!!!!

Okay, now I feel better. Time to take some "Harmony Pills" and a nice warm "herbal bath" and drink some soothing tea and listen to mind relaxation tapes. I'd have to agree with you -- computers are evil! At least my home computer is!!! :devil:

I can't say I am experiencing the same problems accessing this site (though I've had some problems with it being so slllooooowwwwww!) I have a new computer and I'm having problems. For the first six months, it ran like a dream. Then my daughter dropped her laptop (not my PC) and broke it. That started us on a downward spiral with all our computers. :doh:

We have internet access through a cable modem (Adelphia's Powerlink). We decided to switch my daughter's laptop to "wireless" internet access just days before she "dropped it". (Big mistake--she would then not have been able to carry it around--LOL!) The PC was the only computer still using the cable line directly. We had new carpets installed and our wonderful installer's not only clipped my telephone line (while replacing our kitchen floor) they sliced through our cable connected the PC. We had no idea. We couldn't get on the internet for almost a month and got so frustrated we decided to go "wireless" on that as well. In removing the cables, we noticed it was sliced! Way to go guys!!! Anyways, the PC was just teasing us by letting us run for a few weeks without any problems. Then on a Sat. afternoon, all our computers lost internet connection (my son has a laptop too). He was able to turn everything off and he came back up and has been running since. I've tried everything I can imagine and I still cannot get the internet running on that dang PC! I'm threatening to get the gun but my hubbie's hiding the bullets! :shock: That's okay--I still have a baseball bat! :crazy:

As of this morning, we still cannot gain access on that machine. I've had it. Maybe we can have a "destroy our computer party" or something! I'm game!!!! :banghead:
