Well, that panels are up (for the third time) and we are once again preparing the abode for yet another blow. Hope it swings north a bit earlier than this track shows...

I'm literally sick to my stomach just thinking about it. Right now it's coming in at Vero or Ft. Pierce as a cat. 3, but just watch them change it to Martin County in the morning, like Frances. This tension is driving me nuts!! Dick is sleeping a lot, which I guess is good for him. Guess we're as ready as we can be.
Thanks for stopping by and helping with the plywood. We'll just slide them into place early in the morning.
Keep those prayers coming, guys, that this will take a turn to the north before hitting us!!! Thanks!! Figgy

'Enough Already' should be Florida's new state motto.
Seems like every time I check the predictions they change. Hang in there guys, just think in a few more months you can snicker at all the Northerners when they're complaining about the snow.

where did I see the new Fla. licence plate?? It said "Florida--the plywood state"!! Times like this make me wish I was drinking again... I caught myself thinking of the best rums for pina coladas and trying to remember where my old marguerita glasses were.....sometimes I really miss a good smooth, dark rum.....
Oh Lord!!! I feel another Jimmy Buffett song comin' on!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Just don't pack away all your matches this time!
And since you're not drinking, go for the next best thing....something 'extremely' fattening. You can't let all that good ice cream go to waste. Make yourselves some killer sundaes....I bet the kiddies are loads of fun on a sugar high.

It really is just too unfair! Are there any good theories about why there have been so many hurricanes hitting Florida this year?
Sending pixie dust flying in the "plywood" formation for extra protection. Figgy, you've already proven you can handle it when it happens. That should help you with the stress!
And may I again remind you that we have a lovely climate up here that doesn't have hurricanes? Okay, there might be an earthquake someday but there won't be days of nerve-wracking dread leading up to it.

I can't even believe another one is heading toward FL. I'll just keep hoping this one turns itself around again and heads back out to sea. Take Care guys, and our prayers are with you! :angelPray:

Well, Ronski, Figgy and all other Floridians, none of us can believe this is happening again. I for one am sending all the dust and prayers your way pronto.
I think as an Italian, I will have to call Uncle Vinny out of retirement and see if he can make these hurricanes an "offer they can't refuse" and get them to blow off toward another country. Maybe you guys should wear garlic around your necks and that might work to turn the hurricanes around (works with people!).
Seriously, hoping the hurricane will blow itself out before it gets anywhere near you and if it does hit, that it is very very mild. Stay safe.

Unbelievable! My heart so much goes out to all of those affected by these $@*&#. I can't even imagine the constant fear and tension. What effect is this having on the children as well? Do they feel the fear? Lots, Lots, Lots of prayers and Pixie Dust.

Thanks for the wishes guys, the revised track puts this one right on top (or just a smidgen north) of us again....

Wow on the pictures. That one where they are looking up the eye wall and you can see that beautiful blue sky above is really weird.
This will sure be a summer/fall to remember. :yikes: Hope that this thing somehow manages to weaken or change course to open water somehow.
Hang in there, guys. Sending all my good thoughts and prayers your way.

Found this on the DIS homepage, and thought you guys might see the humor in it. I'm sure Mickey is trying his hardest to protect all of Florida. :D

Alicia, thanks for the chuckle, I can sure use it right now. Again, I should be safe since the storm is still tracking north of here. But again, I am left worrying about all those I care for in the Orlando area as many of the forecasts show it going right over them again. So many of my friends there have houses with damage from both Charley and Frances, I am just not sure they will hold up to another storm. And I feel so helpless cause I can't help them.
Strange, when I moved to South FL in June, so many of them asked if I was sure I wanted to move here at the begining of hurricane season, and now they are going through a worse hurricane season than I am.
Ronski, stay safe please.
Figgy, hope that everything works out. I can understand your being worried sick. Please take care and don't make yourself sick with worry.
I sure will be happy when this hurricane season is over!

Cool picture Alicia!
Ronski, Figgy keeping you all in my prayers. I really don't know how you all can continue to deal with this again. It's unbelievable. One way to look at it is...special time spent with your loved ones. To this day I can still remember our Blizzard in 1977 and how we spent our time together.
Stay safe!

dang, dang, dang!!! Jeanne has just been upgraded to a Cat. 3 by the Hurricane Center! And they are saying it can be a Cat 4 by the time it hits the coast! I HATE THIS!!! They have just put the FL West coast under a tropical storm watch due to how far inland they think the hurricane is going to come in...tropical storm winds will go as far as the west coast.
Hope everyone is battened down!

That's wild about your Orlando friends saying that about your southern Florida move, Kylara. Any other year...
I know Gregory (Quicksilver) said he'd had some roof damage during Charley. It's just awful to think that people have just started getting repairs done from Charley and Frances, and then hear we are again. :(
I'm thinking about all you guys. Just hunker down, and hope she moves thru fast.

Prayers still coming your way - Hang in there!
and Ronski - your not drinking reminded me of the character in "Airplane" who kept saying - bad day to quite smoking, drinking etc. Humor may help - yours is still shining through!
