A friend of mine just called me and asked when we were heading down to WDW because of the hurricane. I haven't been following Francis until now, I can't believe the possible destruction it may cause. I'm so concerned about the people down there, especially since they just went through Hurricane Charlie. Anyone going down there, be careful.
same here - keeping all those involved safe in our prayers as Frances approaches us on the East Coast.

We was there for Charley and while I wasnt really that afraid during it I think I dont care to relive it either. Espeically the next day stuff. The airport and drive to it left quite an impression on me.

I hope for everyone on the coast that Frances proves to be less wicked than they are predicting. I can't even imagine the magnitude of preparation for one of these. I'll take my little Michigan tornadoes any day! We store our RV in FL between Disney visits, and as kind as my friends are that keep checking on it after the storms, I am afraid it is turning into a part-time job for them recently! Am sending prayers and pixie dust that Frances turns out to have more bark than bite

FYI: The path of the storm is not only headed for FL but is set to hit Castaway Cay and the Bahamas. They have evacuted the CM's off the island. Prayers to all in the path of the storm.

You would NOT want to be in WDW this week end Mike! Today there is a noon curfew for ALL traffic to be off all roads in Orange County. There is NO gasoline anywhere. Every station is completely out. The corner of John Young and Sand Lake is a shopping plaza with a huge Wal Mart, Lowes, assorted smaller stores and a few gas stations was a parking lot at 11 am yesterday. No one could even move. The lines for gas at 7-11 was so long you couldn't see the end!
Traffic on the Florida Turnpike moved at 4 miles per hour for miles. The same with I-4 and I 95 and I 75.
We were down in Boca Raton househunting and decided to head up towards Orlando Thursday morning. We left Boca at 6:30 am. The weather at that time was sunny and a little windy. People were in the process of boarding up their homes and businesses. Home Depots we saw along the way werepacked. Took the pike up to Orlando. WDW was packed to capacity. Even the downtown Disney hotels were booked. My sister is currently staying at a hotel on I drive where at least they still have electricity. It is raining really hard and a lot of people seem to be in a daze or something.
We were one of the 2 and a half million that decided to get on the highways  It took 11 hours just to get out of the state. All hotels were sold out in Georgia, the Carolinas, people were parked in closed restaurant parking lots setting up camp as they had no where to sleep.
I just hope I have houses left to hunt next week.
