Yep sure is.From the looks of it outside we are fixing to bet the first ourter band. From wht I saw on TV it is going to be a hard one.We already have a flood warning out until tomorrow morning.Anywhere from 2-6 or more inches.AHH the joy of living here, but I wouldn't be anywhere else. The only tin I am scared of is TORNADOES!Hurricanes are easy for me to deal with.I just go to sleep

Besides Batteries... mostly D for flashlights & Gas, gas cans were in very short supply here and it wouldnt hurt to have some tarps either.. minor damage becomes major and it can make the difference in having a dry place to stay afterwards. A generator makes live easier after too. Home depot got a huge supply right in afterwards... 500 for a decent size one. That's what the gas can shortage was from.

Also fill your propane tanks or get some little ones for your grill. I also filled my bathtub with water and had several gallon jugs handy.. cooler with ice ... and food that didnn't have to be prepared.

I had a radio. flashlights, tarps, batteries and knee high boots, water and a little food in a window less room.. and rain jackets...

And CASH....

Stay safe all!! sending major PD for the turkey to go back out to sea and stay!

Lady:
How'd you all do with the storm? Did it pass? Let us know. DS called from Louisiana yesterday saying it was due there but he didn't mention it last night.

morning - it is here right now - luckily downgraded - whew
it came up through the middle of NC - where we are vs. the coast
the winds are blowing the trees - there's debris and flooding
I'm sure we'll have some trees down - bunch of old trees around here
one hangs over one of our roads and folks have told the authorities to take
it down - but they don't - guess they're just waiting to see if it falls on a car going by - first - grrrrr

I'll give another report later - thanks for asking
Frances is scaring the beejeebers out of me though - ackkk
and now there's Hermene(sp?) off NC coast -
time to move!!! lol

Daylight thank goodness. It seems the Gaston loves my county. He blew in with lots of rain and wind .It was of and on all day yesterday and about 11 last night was here for awhile. It was still raining when I got up at 6:30 today and heading to Lady.Sorry Shell but I am glad to see him go.It's a good thing I went and emptied some pool water yesterday morning or we could have lost it.Water is now at the top of the pool! There is some power outage but school is going on. Pine needles are all over the place and I have yet to see that back yard.I don't like the looks of Frances. By Sat. they show it turning this way!So I gues we will head to the beach houses and board them up.Oh well I wanted to go down anyway for Labor day weekend

Gaston is gone - all safe and sound
and now we wait for Frances

Pour me somethin' tall and strong
Make it a hurricane before I go insane
It's only half past twelve but I don't care
It's 5 O'clock somewhere

I checked the storm track this morning, and it looks like it's now expected to come ashore in the north east corner of Floriday. Still, I presume those along the coast have some rough weather ahead, even if it stays on this course.

Now if it would just make a 120 degree turn east.....
