I fell in love with the OKW units during our first tour of the units but we were about to retire and buy property and build etc. so we put it on the back burner.
Where is the best place to go to get info on prices, points etc? Are there differences in prices for the units? We love WL and would like info on the villas. In what areas are the units? (I know of WLV, OKW, Boardwalk). It seems to me that since we usually stay at the WL, Polynesian or Coronado Springs, it would be worth it. I'm thinking of the convenience of even a one bedroom unit if we ever get to take my grandsons for their first trip there. We'd have room for four to sleep.
Anyone out there who is an "expert" on DVC info? You can send a PM is you'd like or give me info here on where to get details.
Thanks guys.

Well, I'm no expert but I'll give these a try. 8)
The best place for the info that you're asking for is from DVC itself. Go to http://dvc.disney.go.com/disneyvacationclub/home?id=Home , that will give you all the lowdown on prices, etc. It also has great info on the DVC resorts. You can also call DVC at 1-800-800-9800 to talk to a DVC rep. http://www.wdwinfo.com/dvc/faq.shtml is Pete Werner's DVC section, with a lot of great info there as well.
There are no differences in prices for the units, but they do have different values. Confused? Points cost the same, no matter which resort you buy into (currently $85 per point, I think). But how many points a room uses depends on the type of room, time of year and the particular resort you're staying in. A 1 bedroom unit at the BW (preferred view) during the first week of Dec will cost you 200 pts for the week. That same room at OKW for the same time will cost you 160 pts.
Besides the 3 you mentioned there are also the Beach Club Villas and the ones they are currently building near Downtown Disney, Saratoga Springs. There is also the Hilton Head Resort and Vero Beach if you feel like staying away from the Mouse Proper. Those are the DVC resorts you can use your points in. You can also use them for any Disney hotel (other than the Value Resorts), but it isn't very cost efficient to use your points that way. Then there are many, many hotels and timeshares, spas and resorts all over the world that DVC has trade agreements with that you can stay at.
Well, have I babbled on quite enough? If you need any more info, just ask.
Great answers Paul, and great to see you again!
Cinderella, all Paul passed on is accurate for the DVC. There is one problem, Disney only has the Beach Club Villas available to the public at this time. There is some discussion that they will open up sales for the Board Walk again, possibly as soon as the end of the month. But this is just a rumor.
If you have your heart set on the Old Key West, you will have to go through a re-seller. (That is where our 'Home' resort is, so I can understand your falling in love with it, we did too!) There is one tied to the DVC discussion on Pete Werner's board that I have heard folks speak well of. I cannot speak from first hand experience as we purchased through DVC direct. The advantage to going through a re-seller is that their price is usually cheaper than points through DVC, but you need to shop carefully. You can find some pretty good bargains there, just be sure to add up all the costs involved with the transaction to make your comparison. Again, if you have your heart set on OKW, the comparisons are not quite so important. You know what you want, and what you will spend to get it.
HTH, if I can answer any other questions, drop me a line and I will do the best I can to answer them for you. Good luck in your quest.
