Today was my day to visit Shrek 4-D for the Universal Orlando Passholder Preview. I arrived at about 10am and went directly to the queue line. The queue line has video monitors and signs that help to set up the story for the main dungeon event. When you round the corner for the last bit of the line before entering the attraction, they play different scenes from the movie and some of the extra bits from the DVD.
The preshow area is a dungeon torture chamber. You pick up your ogre vision glasses as you enter. There is a video preshow with a short recap of the movie (for anyone who hasn't seen it) and the set-up for the main event. There are various fairy tale characters who help tell the story.
After the preshow, you proceed to the auditorium for the main event. The seats are very comfortable and there don't appear to be any bad seats in the theatre. The movie takes you on quest with Shrek and the Donkey t save the Princess from the ghost of the evil Prince Farquaad who is still very very short.
I won't say anymore because everyone should get experience it for themselves. Needless to say though, it was an AWESOME ride. I would say that it is the best 4-D movie presentation I've ever been on. It completely blows MuppetVision out of the water.
As a passholder, I also got a free gift - an Ogre ear headband. Very cool!
