What dates would you be interested in for a Fall trip to Disneyland? Other thoughts?

Betsy Ann, I'm not an expert but I think there is a Utah teacher's conference (usually) that second weekend in Oct and that causes big crowds at DL Maybe twinks can help on that info. Using the Columbus Day holiday in Oct. or the Veterans' Day holiday in November might also cause larger crowds. With that said, we really wouldn't care and would do our best to make any weekend that most others would find suitable.

I put in a vote but will say that ANY of these dates would be an awesome time to visit DL with awesome Taginators! Very interested :D

BetsyAnn, are the dates right, or am I reading 2012 wrong?

Yes, sometime in October is U.E.A. Utah Education Association meetings. However, it has become termed Utah Evacuates to Anaheim. I am not sure what dates in 2012 yet. I don't even know how to look it up as I am not involved with public education.
I put down December dates because I remember a fond trip to Disneyland for Christmas one year. We are flexible however.

I vote for Oct 11-15 since I'll actually be in CA then- otherwise I'll probably miss it!

A couple of the dates do appear wrong.
The second one should read: Thursday, October 25 - Monday, October 29
The third one should read: Thursday, November 8 - Monday, November 12 (November 12 will be the Veteran's Day Holiday)

Just did a little research...Sorry, I am a travel agent.... :)
1. Columbus Day, 2012 is actually on Monday, October 8. So the first dates would not hit that holiday.
2. The second set of dates should be October 25th - 29th. You would have all the fun of Halloween without being there on the actual day.
3. The third set of dates should be November 8th - 12th. The 12th will be the Veteran's Day Holiday, so you may see an increase in crowds...especially the locals.
4. Hanukkah begins on Dec 9, 2012...not sure if that might be a deal breaker.
The two attractions that change for the holidays (Haunted Mansion & Small World) have different dates that they open. HM would have the Nightmare overlay on each of the options. However, Small World would be closed until Disneyland begins their Christmas Celebrations, about mid November.(This year was Nov 14) So it would be closed for the first 2 and maybe the third option.
In October, Disneyland has their version of Mickey's Halloween Party on select nights.
So I guess it comes down to: "Do you want to see Disneyland dressed for Halloween or Christmas?" I have seen both and they are equally wonderful!

A trip to DL next year is a possibility but we have plans to go to WDW for the week before and after Halloween. I would want to see IASW and HM so the Dec. 6th date would be the best except we can't go that week either. Mom & dad are taking a Disney Cruise for their anniversary and won't be back until Dec. 9th. We care for their dogs etc so no travel that week. The only week that we could go would be Dec. 11th - Dec. 18th, close to Christmas but we would get to see everything.

Well I will be concentrating less on WDW and more on the west coast starting next fall (mostly Arizona, Nevada and parts of California).
I'll see what dates are finally decided and then see if I can come by and join in.

I voted for Oct 11 - 15 since my pass will expire on the 19th. Way too early to know if I'll be getting a new one, but would love to get a few more days on this one.
Dec 6 - Dec is too close to Christmas, but yet too far away. I get the week off for Christmas, so when I do manage to sneak in vacation time in December I try to attach it to the holiday break. And when going that far, I wouldn't want to do it any other way. I get to see the Christmas decorations this year at DL, so probably not going to happen next year.
The other two choices would be a possibility, but almost a guarantee if it was the first choice.

Dates have been corrected -thanks ;)
The Utah Education event is the 18th and 19th has stated on their website. Unsure when that impacts DL.

At this point the first dates are in the lead - Last call for thoughts!
Let's say by 1/15/2012 we will have all the votes cast and decide!

Sorry I'll have to pass on DL in 2012 :( My office is moving in October, and we can't take any time off. I'll catch you there the next time. I had so much fun this past year. I hope that we can plan another trip in 2014 or something ;)

I'll be in CA on Oct. 14th from noon on if there's some Tags at DL maybe we can get a dinner meet out of the parks- if not I understand we will be leaving on a cruise the 15th and don't think park tickets are in the budget this time.

Now that I've said one day park tickets are probably too expensive for me - anyone know how I can get some discounted one day tickets? (our plane gets into SNA at noon)

Sometimes AP holders can buy tickets with a little bit of a discount. We'll check on this closer to the date. I also have a friend who just moved to Southern CA and she might be able to get a ticket for a guest. There are possibilities!

Great! I'll start looking for airfare now.
Thinking about staying at the Candy Cane Inn.
Any other ideas for places to stay?

Pam,
Check out Moussavers. One Day discount tickets are hard to come by, but occasionally you can get them. They do have some info for teachers and even though it is suppose to be for California teachers, it seems some people outside of CA have been able to get them.
I did look at my AP info and it doesn't mention anything about buying tickets for others. Not saying it never happens, but it isn't an always thing. The only thing it notes is the 1 day discount ticket for an AP that has black out dates - you can buy a ticket for that date. Not sure if that is a black out date, but even if it was probably you would also have to show you AP with that ticket.
