Check-in was empty. I went to the window and was helped by a CM named Linda. I smiled and told her that we shared the same name and she just looked at me.......

I requested a refrigerator for Alana's meds and asked about an upgrade. She was very rude and told me that none were available. Didn't bother looking on the computer... I told her that I also wished to purchase enight tickets (for the following night) and she snapped that I'd have to wait til she was finished. Okay............I KNOW I am tired (been up since 3am MST and it's now 5:30 pm) but I am still able to respond to people with courtesy.

We head up to the room (#4123) and I realize that we didn't get the e-tickets. Start unpacking, order room service, and decided to call and ask housekeeping for some extra hangars. They arrive immediately with about 20 extra's and I ask him about the frig. He states that no one told him about the frig. He returns in less than five minutes with our frig. He was very nice. He asked why we weren't in a savannah room. I told him that the CM said there were no upgrades. His eyes got big and he said that the hotel was definately NOT full. I changed the subject.

(The lady who cleaned our room said the exact same thing the following day when we returned to go swimming)

Linda, I agree with what Disneylover said in another post. You should write or e-mail the manager at AKL. I've heard a few bad comments about the CMs at check in there. I'm sure the manager doesn't want this to negatively reflect on their hotel, and the only way they can do anything about it is if they know who's doing what.

I'm sorry that you were treated with disrespect by this person, but glad to know that you guys had fun anyway.

I also agree that you should write a letter about your experience or call the manager at AKL. The one thing I have learned about Disney and any other place, is to be very specific about what it would take to make the situation "right" with you. Don't be afraid to ask. The worst that can happen is they can say no.

Don't get me started on nasty checkin CM's! :hopmad:

Last August we didn't even ask for an upgrade or ANYTHING extra (not that asking a question should be ANY kind of a problem) and the AKL CM still acted all put out to check us in at all. It left SUCH a negative impression of the resort. I agree with the others, make sure AKL managment knows of your dissatisfaction. Our family has no desire to return there ever again.

I've resolved myself to walk away next time a CM is nasty. And I will tell them straight out that I'm reentering the line to wait for a CIVIL CM.

LindaR - sorry about your experience -- I believe you let people know how you want to be treated -- and if that person does not get it then move up the ladder -- Letting management know is a great idea given by several people -- and the let them know what you want is a good plan too

And Tagrel -- That is a great plan! It is polite, to the point and should garner you a more willing CM if not the manger on duty.
