Does anyone know if you can copy the photo CD once you purchase it? I just saved all the photos we had taken as both 5 X7's and 8 X 10's so they would print right. I also added borders to almost all of them. But I want to know if I can make a usable copy of the CD.

Thanx,

One more question. What format do the photos come in on the CD?

They are .jpg format. And to reiterate Cruiser, no problem making copies of the DVD when you get it.

The pics on the PhotoPass PhotoCD are directly downloaded from the digital cameras used by PhotoPass photographers, with no alteration or processing, and no copy protection DRM. The CD will also contain all of the copies you made on the PhotoPass web site with borders and cropping and any other alterations, so you get the best of both worlds - the original, unaltered pics, and any that you altered, all on the same disk (or set of disks - PhotoPass accounts often don't fit on a single CD, so PhotoPass splits them up onto multiple disks at no extra charge).

Included on the CD will be an additional JPG - an image of the legal release granting you ownership and intellectual property rights to the images (except for commercial purposes or re-sale). The idea behind putting in on in JPG format is that if you take the PhotoCD somewhere for printing, the release can be viewed just like one of the photos, to prove that you have the legal right to print the photos. This is done because many photo labs and printing places will not print photos that are, or look like, copyrighted professional products, without a release from the photographer.

Once you get the CD, you own the pics and the images. You can copy, print, share, upload, and modify them to your heart's content, so long as you don't resell them or use them for any commercial purpose, such as publishing them in a magazine or for-pay web site.

Here is the actual agreement JPG:
