View Full Version : Update on my progress

I suspect more than a few of you have been wondering how I've been doing. I'm sorry that I haven't been doing checkins because it's always delightful to touch base every day. Sometimes I just get tired of my Time Zone because I'm always last to check in, can't make chats, etc. :(
How I'm doing: I'm still WAITING. It seems like I just keep losing weeks: I lost a week in the process when my doctor's office rescheduled me, lost a week when I took my trip to Pittsburgh, lost a week when one of my service providers took longer than promised to finish her report to my doctor, lost a week when the doctor didn't get to my paperwork during his office hours last week...I should be getting the "We're good to Go!" call soon, though. That will mean scheduling surgery and entering the Pre-Op phase. I'm SO ready.
Or maybe I'm not. I've been feeling rather mortal and vulnerable lately. I think I've had too much time to think. I totally trust my doctor, and I've gotten so much good advice and support from BarbD (she's so 8) )and everyone here. Part of this is watching my Mom slide downhill. She's in a care facility now and my father is quite concerned about the quality of care she's getting--she often removes her oxygen and no one notices. That causes her recovery to be slowed. Dad's looking for a bed in a better facility. My big lesson from my visit to her is that even though there's little I can do from here, there's also little we can do for her there--none of the big things.
Physically, I'm stronger. I'm excellent in the pool, can spend an hour there with no problem doing warmup, aerobics, and cooldown. Walking still isn't easy but I do more and more. The caring thoughts you all sent me through the incredible scrapbook Sheryl put together are wonderfully encouraging and sustaining!
While I'm WAITING. :hppmad:

You know you are in my prayers and in my heart, Dear Bianca-lady. ;)
Hang in there. Perhaps there is a really good (aka divine) reason for all the delays. We are here to support you and give you encouragement and I'm glad that you gave us a little update.
Yeah  for the hour in the pool! I can hardly swim much less spend an hour doing aerobics! ;)
Take care, Sweetie!

Thanks for updating us MissB. Those lost weeks are behind you and now it's all forward. Keep up the good work, I am so proud of you.
I'm sorry you have the added burden of you're mother's care. I pray your dad can find something that makes you all comfortable.
Stay strong, we are all behind you and will be as long as you need us to be.
Please know I care,

Dear Miss B, waiting is hard. Look at all the things you have accomplished during that time. You will be very prepared when the time comes. My friend had this surgery in February. There was very little prep and she was not prepared for the changes to her life that resulted from the surgery. She is doing just fine; has lost over 70 lbs.; looks great and says she feels wonderful as long as she follows her eating requirments. Your foundation is strong and you will be very successful. We are all here for you.

Sorry to hear that you have to be kept waiting Miss B. But the waiting will all be worth it in the long run!
Take Care! That scrapbook is filled with good wishes just for you!

In the rehab unit where your mother is recuperating, they should have in plain view the states report of their last review. If they don't, have your Dad ask. He can read it & it's good to see if they were tagged, like a demerit, for a nursing problem. If it's a nursing problem, it may have been fixed. If it is was non patient related that's easily fixable and shouldn't effect your Mom's care directly. Nursing care effects patient care directly. Sometimes the states come in more frequently, which is good, but not a good sign for a rehab unit. Just have your Dad read up on it. As frustrating as it is having your Mom take her oxygen off, she could remove it as soon as a nurse or nurses aide leaves the room, or even just after your Dad leaves. Unless someone is w/her 24/7, there's no way to control her keeping it on. I don't know what else to tell you about that. I hope she stops doing that. Hang in there. I've been in your shoes, so I do know. It's tough & trying for family members.
I'm glad you stopped in & wish you the best w/your upcoming surgery. It will be here before you know it. :D :tink:

Hey MissB,
Hang in there you will be just fine. I have known you for a few years now, going back to the old "Clubhouse" days. You have always come across as a strong intelligent women. I can't imagine what you are going through now mentally, but know that we are all here for you. I know I don't post that much, hardly ever actually now, but I do lurk. You were very supportive to me during a very difficult time in my life awile back during the old clubhouse days. That is when I really got to know who you were. I honestly believe you are not giving the credit you so well deserve. You will get through this and start a whole new healthy lifestyle. I will keep you in my thoughts and prayers. Take care my friend.

Miss B:
Okay, enough waiting. Once you get a date set, you're good to go. You've done all you were asked to do, you've been keeping up your exercising etc. No need to worry now. Once the surgery is over and you're feeling fine, you can be of more help to your mom by being fit as a fiddle and able to withstand any more stress.
I know VERY WELL what stress can do to a person's body and so do you. BUT, you KNOW you have all the prayers and dust being sent to you by all the caring and kind hearted souls here on Tagrel's site to help you along. We
LOVE you and we are HERE for you anytime you need us.
Keep us posted more often as we are all waiting to hear any news you have.
