Let's do a PhotoPass share for Tag-A-Venture!

Here's what it's all about. (I stole almost the entire description from WillCAD, thanks Will!)

What is a PhotoPass share?
For those who don't know - A PhotoPass CD share is when a group of friends and family combine all of their PhotoPass cards into a single account, then split the cost of the CD equally.

How much does it cost?
A PhotoPass CD costs $99 if you pre-order it (which we will), and about $6 shipping, for a total of $105. If we have 10 people, that's $10.50 each. Throw in an extra $3 per person to cover the cost of the blank CD and shipping from the coordinator to each person, and the total cost for each member of a 10-person share is $13.50 - way better than the $105 that it would cost you if you got the CD yourself. This is especially important for those of us who come home with only a few PhotoPass pics.

How does it work?
The share coordinator (in this case, me) is the one who orders the CD, copies it, and sends the copies to everyone in the group.

Will I get just my pics, or everybody's?
Our group is more like an extended family than a group of strangers so it was agreed that first time we did a "share" that everybody wanted to see everybody else's pics. This is only dangerous when certain Photoshop-savvy persons (who shall remain nameless at this juncture) join the group.

How many people will be in the group?
The more the merrier!

Okay, I'm in - what do I do?
1) Everybody gets their own PhotoPass cards and has pics taken normally
HINT: Write down or take a digital pic of your PhotoPass card numbers when you get them in case you lose the card.

2) Everyone is to PM me with your PhotoPass card number. NOTE: Do not enter this PhotoPass number in your account. It can only be entered in the "group account". Don't worry, you'll have plenty of time to review your pics and add borders once you get home!

3) I will add all the card numbers to our "group" PhotoPass account and send the user name and password info to all members in advance.

4) You can pay me your share in cash when we meet at Tag-A-Venture.

5) After Tag-A-Venture is over, we all add borders and graphics and crop our pics as much as we wish.

6) Once everybody has reviewed and modified their pics I will order the CD.

7) When the CD arrives, I will make copies for each member and mail them out. 8)

Don't forget, it you are not cruising the Panama with us and you get to Disneyland a day or two before us you can start your photopass pics as soon as you arrive!

So COME ON! Join the group!

Gary, if you're going to do this - - but apparently if you buy the stock photo cd (that is the photos of the castle etc without you in them) at the camera shop on main street, there will be a coupon in it for a free photopass cd.

http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2576990&highlight=photopass+cd post # 11 for details.

I'm in, too.

I'll check that out. We just bought one from WDW on our last trip. If you pre-ordered the PhotoPass CD then you got the Stock Photo CD free. The stock photos are great! Definitely want one from Disneyland!

I'll look at our options!

Thanks!

Just want to add that if you are at WDW before we sail you can also get pictures done there, just use the same card at DL.

Just an update for several reasons:
The prices I quoted in my original post may not be accurate. The Photopass CD cost is uncertain, it looks like it will be somewhere between $59 and $149. Shipping to Canada will be about $28.00 - ouch, it hurts, but we Canadians are used to it!
We are continuing to explore all possible discount codes. As Ursulinda pointed out (post #3 in this thread) there may be a deal if we combine a Gallery CD with the Photopass CD. We will do this if at all possible. Here is a summary of what the thread she refers to says: You buy the Photo Gallery CD at Disneyland for $60. There is a coupon included in the CD package which will give you your PhotoPass CD including shipping. The coupon is good for $59.95 off and $2.95 for shipping. After you return home you will upload your card(s) to the website.(You have 30 days to upload your photos) After you are done (you'll have 30 days to edit) you will order the PhotoPass CD which is $59.95 for the DLR one. Before you complete your order you will see the space for the promotional code. That's where you enter the code from your coupon from the Gallery CD you can buy at DLR. Your revised total will be $0. [Sounds almost too good to be true - we'll see!]
Our friends Bob & Juanita from Whitby, Ontario have joined our group, that brings our family count to eight, so the cost per family is going down once again.
In the "worst case scenario" the cost would be about $22 for each family. I expect it will be much lower, but we can't be sure at this point.
One last point: If you will be at Walt Disney World before we leave on the Panama Cruise, you can use PhotoPass while you are there. Have plenty of pictures taken!

Take your WDW PhotoPass card to Disneyland. When you have Photopass pictures taken at Disneyland GET A NEW CARD. Then take both cards, your WDW card and your DLR card to a Photopass counter. Ask to have all your WDW pictures transferred to the DLR card. Then send me an e-mail or a PM with your DLR Photopass number. I will add it to our "Group Account" Once again, do not enter this DLR PhotoPass number in your personal account. It can only be entered in the "group account". Don't worry, you'll have plenty of time to review your pics and add borders once you get home!

Once you have a DLR Photopass card, use it exclusively, do not use the WDW Photopass card again.

Clear as mud? Let me know if you have any questions!

Gary, if you want, you can have it shipped to my US address to lower the cost.

I thought that maybe because I had previous pictures in my account that it wouldn't post the pre-paid offer so this morning I opened a new account but the same thing, no specials. Maybe because of the time of year they are so busy they don't need to attract new business? I will keep checking and if a deal comes up grab it, I am still hoping that the coupon offer is still available in the Gallery CD when we get to DL.

Thanks Gloria but I think that is just for WDW. I went on another site that is for DL and asked about the photopass process there, this is the answer I got from a CM.

" The price for DLR is $59.95. Once you go in Jan. and enter your DLR card(s) the price will change to the DLR price. Don't pre-order for DLR. There is no pre-order discount at DLR only WDW. Hope this helps. "

They are also saying that the coupon is still available if we buy the Gallery CD so we will figure it out when we get there. Either way it is much cheaper than WDW.

There is a catch if you are adding WDW pictures, the cost is based on the last park entered so if you get a card at WDW and then use it at DL the DL price kicks in, but if you do it the other way around then you pay the WDW price.
