Since there are several options and costs available for this event it is probably easier for everyone to make their own plans.

Disney's FASTPASS Service provides first-come, first-served tickets to same day show times for World of Color. Tickets are available when the park opens at the Grizzly River Run Disney's FASTPASS Service machines.
Pre-purchase a picnic meal online and get a ticket that reserves your prime seat for the first showing of World of Color. The World of Color Reserved Viewing section in Paradise Park is the preferred location to see this nighttime water spectacular. Though you will receive a spot, reserved viewing is first come, first served, so get there early!
A full-service fixed price dinner at Ariel's Grotto or Wine Country Trattoria includes tickets to a Preferred Viewing section at Paradise Park. A World of Color lunch with Reserved Viewing is also available at Wine Country Trattoria

1. Ariel's Grotto World of Color Dining: Enter the undersea-themed dining room for a sumptuous 3-course meal and select from seafood, meat and vegetarian delights. First and second show dinner packages (on applicable nights): 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., first show - 7:05 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., second show.

2. Wine Country Trattoria World of Color Dining: Experience the bounty of California wine country with a delicious 3-course meal than includes choice of starter, entrée and dessert. Complement your meal from the wide selection of wine, at an additional cost. Dinner includes a Preferred Viewing Section pass while lunch includes a Reserved Viewing pass. Lunch: First and second show lunch packages (on applicable days).
Saturday afternoon and evening has been designated California Adventure park day so that’s a start. There are typically 2 shows on Saturdays; 9:00pm and 10:15pm. After we make our plans we can post on this thread.

Can anyone enlighten me about reserved and preferred?

Anyway, I looked up the menus for these at AllEars and I really like the Ariel's Grotto menu! (http://allears.net/dlr/din/menu/men_agw.htm) Anyone else interested in this one? The shared appetizers and desserts sound fun for a group!

Miss B let me check with Mike and see if he'd like to do this.

That Does sound good, MissB. Very tempting. Much more so than either the dessert thing or the picnic. What night were you thinking of doing it?

I would definitely be interested in going to Ariel's Grotto. It would be a lot of fun.

I'm glad others like that menu too!

Did you all see this photo from the link Jellyrolls supplied? Gives a great idea of the layout--and LOOK at all those places things can launch from *is excited*.

Carol, do you pay in advance for this?

Carol, do you pay in advance for this?

Not the dinners, you do pay in advance for the Fantasmic Dessert Party, that can be booked at 30 days. The picnic's are ordered online, 30 days in advance and you do pay for them in advance.

MissB et al - is one person going to get the ressie for the group, or just how is this going to work? (I haven't had very good luck in the past getting reservations at DL and would rather avoid the experience if possible)

I will call- but I'd rather do the 8 oclock show. With dinner around 6ish how does that sound?

You know me - asleep by 9 pm, lol - but with the park not opening until 10 , the Late show sounds good - like a way of extending the day

I would love an earlier dinner and the first show (9 pm). And I'd REALLY love it if you'd call. Make sure to count both Bernard and I :D

Maybe make the ressy for one or two more people than have confirmed so far? Easier to subtract than to add at this point.

When you say "late show" do you mean the 9 pm one, or the even later show? LOL

Is it too late to add MyBob and myself to the Ariel's Grotto ressie? That sounds like the restaurant for us....

Picky eater luvsPiglet. Nothing sounded good enough to her to spend the $ for the perferred seating. We are going to take our chances by standing in line for the Fast Passes.

If you want to make an (cash) envelope for this meal (and my calculator is correct) here's the breakdown:
Meal $36.99
Tax (8.75%) 3.25 (rounded to nearest penny)
18% automatic gratuity: $7.25 (again rounded up to nearest penny) = $47.49

If someone finds a problem with my math please let me know (it's not my best thing)

I'll have my cash ready.

:fireworks:World of Color was a wonderful show, lots of special effects, and if it would have ended before the Tron thing I would have loved the show even more.

So not sure where everyone was during the show. We got there just a few minutes after 10 am and were in the center circle, dead center of the show. Very few people in this area. Loved the spot. Absolutley could not find anyone else.

Gloria, Jellyrolls, Hannah, BriarRose and myself looked but in the dark could not see anyone! We know Twinks and LuvsPilget were there cuz they walked in before us, yet we lost them. Hope everyone had a great view!

It was a great show. It was a really fun night (well, except for Electronica).

Pam and Linda came and watched it from the viewing deck at the Grand Californian tonight.

I didn't even notice the tron thing, unless it was that little tron part right at the end? Is that the electronica everyone was talking about?

AZMouseFan
01-25-2011, 03:10 PM
BA-we were on the benches in the handicapped seating area. I wondered where all of you were, too!
BW-the Electronica that caused trouble was the show in the plaza (where Ursulinda, twinks and lp were trapped by all the people), although there were some who didn't like the few seconds of Tron interruption at the end of World of Color

I loved the show and well worth the price of the dinner to get good seats. However, they could have done without the Tron commercial before the ending.

The Tron plaza thing was outside Crush and Monster's Inc. on the Hollywood sign street. It was so loud! The interesting thing is that on Sunday night as we were walking to the hotel, you could hear it. I think that they should have a warning of somekind out before you enter that street (silly me, the loud music should be warning enough). Way too loud for Disney (JMHO).

On Sunday night sitting in Tomorrowland they had the same kind of thing going on for a bit Twinks!

It was so great to see everyone and I loved WoC! All except that little end which I am understanding will change depending on which movie they are promoting. I would like to see it when they start with Pirates 4 :D

I loved the show. I had thought that all dinner package guests would be together, I was wrong. I guess because Gary had a scooter we were directed to the HC section. We did get to watch the show with Ursulinda, AZMouseFan, Mark, MissBianca, Bernard, Twinks, luvspiglet, John and Cathy so that was good but it would have nice if we could have all been together.

I also loved the show! Cathy and I had a little chuckle over the commercial, think A Christmas Story and Ovaltine.

It is a shame we all did not end up sitting together...

World of Color night was certainly a highlight for us! I also wish we all could have been together but I surely loved the group we had! We were almost the whole party in the handicapped section and it was as if we had a private little room.

World of Color is a fabulous show, worth seeing again for sure!
