My friend Frank called today, and began musing over what he could make for dinner tonight, as he was getting bored with making the same old thing.
He wanted to grill something; I suggested shrimp, like at 'Ohana, which piqued his curiosity. I went on the internet and in about 15 seconds I found this recipe:
http://barbeque.allrecipes.com/az/HawaiianShrimp.asp
I read it to him over the phone, and he said, "Come on over, we'll run out to the store and pick up the stuff we need, and we'll throw this together."
Well, after a brief trip to the store for the ingredients, all of which were very simple and easy to find, we threw it all together and put the stuff on the skewers. After the skewers were full, we had some ingredients left over, so Frank threw them into a skillet on the stove for a few minutes.
The stir-fried version was excellent, but the grilled version was amazing! It didn't taste exactly like 'Ohana, but it had the same general flavor and put me into a real Polynesian mood.
The only bad thing about this recipe is the fact that you can't stop eating it until you've stuffed yourself fit to bursting.
