Being one the few who was just not wowed with Boma, would I enjoy Jiko? Is it the same general type of food? If you've eaten there was it worth the money? Were you blown away with a certain dish?
I'm thinking I might like to try it out in December. :eat:

I thought Jiko was significantly different than Boma, although I really like both of them. Much more gourmet. I had the monkfish which blew me away as did the wine and dessert. I thought it was worth the money but I suppose it depends on your tastes.

In all honesty, I think the food at Jiko, while gourmet and interesting and delicious, is also somehow a bit more conventional at the same time. The oak grilled tenderloin is wonderful if you eat beef and all of the seafood dishes have been great when I've had them. Nothing too exotic, just wonderfully prepared, flavourful food. For a bit more spice, try the berbere braised lamb shank - wonderful. And the wine list is just outstanding. Expensive, but outstanding. I have to say, I've been disappointed lately with the dessert selections - I don't think they've been quite up to the amazing standards set by Chef Serge when the restaurant opened but they do change the dessert offerings quite regularly so maybe they'll have some better choices when you get there.

I was totally WOWed by the lamb shank Pam mentioned and have enjoyed every dish I've tried there. It's a very romantic place, too :)
