There is a VERY interesting thread over on the DIS about some DVC members getting survey cards asking questions about "Potential tickets offered by Walt Disney World to DVC Members" Click here for DIS thread (http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=595497&perpage=15&pagenumber=1)
There seems to be at least a couple different surveys - one refers to about a 15% discount, and the second talks about up to 25% off on APs (along with other ticket types).
The PAP was offered at a $125.00 savings (25% off reg. prices) which would equal- $374.00 Cost for children's tickets would be 80% of the adult ticket.
The UPH would be 15% off and go as follows:
1 nite/2 day- $110.00
2/3- $150.00
3/4- $201.00
4/5- $240.00
5/6- $268.00
6/7- $296.00
7/8- $325.00
PHP- would also be 15% off and started at
5days (2 pluses)- $239.00
6 (3 pluses)- $265.00
7 (4 pluses) - $291.00
and finally the AP-
save $100.00 (25% again) off AP- which would bring the cost of it down to $279.00 - THIS IS THE ONE I VOTED FOR!!
I think ticket discounts to DVC members would be an EXCELLENT idea! I know the whole family would have AP's if I could save 25%!!
Anyone around here receive one of these surveys?
not yet, but I am all over discounted AP'S :) but then if they do this, maybe I'll go ahead and get the PAP for the same cost as the reg AP...so then they can get me to DTD to spend more $$ there.... :P

Our Guide mentioned that to me last week. She said that the new VP (from Disney and now with DVD) is looking into offering a special pass for DVC members. I told her that we would be all over that!

I agree with you all, if they offered a discount for the PAP, everyone in my group would have them!
Hope this comes to pass.

I haven't gotten a post card yet but I would love to offer my opinion. $100 off AP would be terrific. In a pinch I would take $60 off. This would indeed be a great DVC perk.

No survey postcard here.
I hope they offer a discount on all ticket media. Each trip we take is a different lenght and usually more than 12 months a part.

When DVC first started at OKW wasn't park admission one of the perks. I seem to remember that it lasted about 10 years.

I would probably not buy AP's, unless of course I could get down there enough to make it worth while. Now with Masen being so young, it is tough. Maybe in a few more years we would do it. Of course discounted UPH tickets sound great right now. I didnt get the survery, but I cant wait till it happens. You KNOW that nobody recieving a surver is going say, "ahh, NO THANKS, we would rather keep paying full price. Also, while your at it, could raise our maintanence fees" ;-)
Hey Timon, I think your right. I remember hearing the same thing. Imagine if that were still in affect

Wow! This is great news, and I really hope they come up with a variety of options for members. I think we'd most likely use the AP discounted ticket. I love to get two or more trips on one. If they were offered at these discounts, we'd probably even get PAPs occasionally.

Kind of have mixed feelings about this. I would like to see something better offered for DVC members as far as tickets go. BUT as a Florida resident I have concerns about making DVC ticket discounts as good or better than Florida resident ticket discounts. Most DVC members have incomes that are SIGNIFICANTLY higher than most local Central Florida residents. And yes, some may come from areas like NJ where the cost of living is higher but still and all, DVCers are going to have much more disposable income than locals. Don't forget - much of Florida has a tourism based income and thus most workers in Florida have pretty low income levels. Of course, I'm sure some will argue that Florida residents have the seasonal AP and Play-4-Days passes; however, these passes don't allow visits during peak seasons and have other limitations as well. Plus, don't forget that while locals get some benefits from having WDW as a neighbor, they also have to put up with the negatives (increased traffic, drivers who don't know where they are going and so make dangerous moves behind the wheel, difficulty getting flights out of town, etc) of being a tourist destination. So, while I'd be happy to see DVC discounts, I would be kind of upset if the DVC AP prices were better than resident offers. After all, when the tourists leave, Floridians are still here and I think it would be kind of a slap in the face to Floridians if DVC members were given more consideration with ticket prices.

Well, I hope that FL residents keep their discounts, but I also feel that DVC members have made a HUGE dollar commitment to Disney, and some form of ticket discount would be great.
If I'm not mistaken, FL residents enjoy a total lack of State Tax payments (ours here in NY are ridiculous) and a 6.5 % sales tax to our 8.75%. AND I happen to live in one of the most depressed areas in the entire US. (We ranked number one in lowest cost of living due to a glut of houses for sale, and loss of major industries). Not too easy to get a pay raise in an atmosphere like that, but that doesn't stop those taxes from going crazy every year!)
I would LOVE to live near a major airport hub where I could get flights for less than the $250-per I currently pay, and as far as dealing with traffic - don't the Floridians outside major tourist areas pay the same discounted FL rates as those in town? Should they have to pay more too? I just don't see the point of begrudging one group a discount if it happens to be better (or worse) than another. I would be happy with anything we may (or may not) get. Should I consider the fact that FL residents get a discount a 'slap in the face' since I'm a DVC member and have heavily invested in their product? ? I certainly hope not...

A lot of the old benefits for DVC ownership -- and purchasing annual passes, as well -- were a lot better than they are today. Didn't the first rounds of buyers get free or heavily discounted APs as an enticement to join up? It's kind of refreshing to see a change from the usual pattern of cutting back on benefits over time.
Also, since buying DVC represents a significant financial investment, it's cool by me if Disney's finally figuring out a way to reward that investment (again). So, I hope the rumors turn out to be true.

WooHoo!! I was just considering writing the DVC VP. I am going down 12/19-26, and will have an extra body this year...My exchange student the Disney Fanatic from Japan. I was looking at all of the ticket possibilities, and found out that the 10% off the UPH at Check In is off Gate price, not resort/advance purchase price. That surprised me. I would love to have several options. The AP would be my favorite. BTW...I am not one of those "Significantly Higher Income" DVC people...I am a Public School Teacher/ Single Dad who thrives on being in debt. 8)

Whoa...whoa...if you actually read what I wrote originally, you will see that I do not begrudge offering better ticket discounts to DVC members than they currently have - heck I'm a DVC member so I am likely to benefit from any lower ticket prices. I just wanted to present my personal opinion that DVC member discounts on admission media should not exceed Florida resident discounts and try to explain why I felt that way. Having lived here for a while and getting to know a lot of people who grew up here and NEVER go to the parks because it is simply too expensive (even with current Florida resident discounts) and I think Florida residents should continue to get some of the best ticket discounts available to ensure that no matter what happens in the world today, they will have a strong base of local (i.e. Florida residents) patrons who will be able to continue coming to the parks, spending money there and ensuring that the parks are around when our DVC memberships end in 2042 or 2050. Offering special discounts to Florida residents is just a way for Disney to be a good neighbor within the state.

Interesting topic. I can see both points of view as a former Orlando resident and now as a new owner. Interestingly, I had a LOT more disposable income in FL than I have ever had. I was just talking with a few of my good friends down there the other day remarking at the cost of living ratio vs salaries. Sometimes my hubby and I think about moving back down because of that! ;)
I'm sure one can find DVC owners who are just scraping by, but decided to join as a bright spot in their life as well as DVC owners who can afford to own hundreds of points (and use them for Fri & Sat stays without batting an eye!) ;) :) On the same note, there are both very wealthy people in Florida and very poor people in Florida (as is the case in most states). There really is no comparison - just different circumstances.
I say c'est la vie - Whatever discount that Disney give DVC owners (hopefully they will) the larger the better! My husband and I are both FT blue collar and would definitely utilize visiting Florida and helping stimulate the income more often if there were more discounts. If FL residences are happy with their current discount (I know that my friends are very happy with it) then that's great! If another group (such as DVC) gets a larger discount (how awesome that would be for DVC owners, but I bet that's unlikely) that's great too! The situation reminds me of a parable in the Bible: if you are happy in one situation, there's no reason to be unhappy if someone is in a better situation.

I think DVC owners should get a bigger discount than Florida residents!! Why should you get a discount simply b/c you live in the same state?? Do California residents get DL discounts? Do I get a discount on my local Six Flags b/c I live in this state? Heck, maybe Florida residents should get cruise line discounts too b/c they live there. I am paying tens of thousands of dollars for my DVC and I think I am entitled to bigger discounts  Is'nt this discrimination against non-Florida residents?? ;-) I'm sueing Disney, that is IT
I'm with you Den, Disney is a boon for residents, all the money we spend there keeps their taxes( state income and inheritance low) DVC members deserve ticket discounts...............please ;)

Keep the residents happy. and they won't vote on referendums which might come up. By the Way, how is that Jet train doing?
I hope very much that they offer some discounts for DVC members. I think much of their recent income depends on us.
